Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

An odd following on this board, a following of instigators.

There are some who seem to thrive off of the panic and fear mongering here. They can’t seem to stomach the thought of others seeking to leave the company but truly seem to enjoy letting you know that you are 100% at Citi’s mercy with absolutely no hope whatsoever.

They love to tell you that its 100% useless to ever even look for a job absolutely no one is hiring. You stuck at Citi and all you can ever do is just hope that you aren’t let go. Stick to the Citi default of “wait and hope”.

When the job market does start churning, like now, well its just a smattering of jobs here and there its completely useless to try. You might as well stay at Citi and try to weather the storm and just hope you don’t get let go. Just hunker down and put up with all the things you don’t like, its as good as its going to get.

When the job market is smoking hot, well there may be a ton of jobs but there’s also a ton of applicants so its useless after all if you had any true marketable skills you’d have left by now.

The bottom line is they will look for creative ways to mentally beat you down and squash all thoughts of hope of leaving but thrive on nurturing any feelings of anxiety that you may have by staying.

Advice: Turn a deaf ear. Stay off of this site. Do some soul searching. Revamp your resume. Search and apply for what appeals to you. LinkedIn job search has some awesome filters for “work from home” and salary ranges.

Its at this point that those naysayers mentioned earlier will chime in with “thanks LinkedIn employee for using this site to sell your service”. Again naysayers and haters trying to beat you down and no I’m not a LinkedIn employee. Even if I was though, it would not make the statement any less true as that site has those two job search filters that Citi.

I’m sure some of the other haters will be combing over this post looking the any punctuation or misspelled words so that they can harp on that in an effort to sway the post in a different direction. Again, haters instigating like little imps. Don’t be distracted, focus your mindset and know that you have options other than “just wait and hope”.

Most workers are not busy at Citibank right now. The only meetings are for those working on the reduction selection. Everyone else is waiting to know if they will have a job or not. Citi’s 6-month reduction plan with no clear information has literally paralized productivity. Citi could save money and improve productivity by telling workers if they will have a job or not.

@1jcu+1qsOEmOg Citi could care less as to how anyone feels about the current state of things so long as you keep it to yourself. They don’t want to hear it or hear of you voicing your opinion.

Why not replace HR with AI. No one believes anything HR says anyway, having people trust AI would not be too hard of an ask vs. what we currently have.

Post ID: @1oxc+1qsOEmOg It appears HR, Executive Management, MDs and Ds DO Care to answer your question. I've witnessed and been in meetings where the former used during the meetings certain phrases, comments or ideas posted on this Site. Also, certain retorts and replies on this Site are obviously from HR or Exec Management when they disagree with other posters or when their Nerves were struck after the truth was posted or Citi was called out on BullSh!t.

Do you guys really think HR is here and that they care? Assuming someone or people in leadership want to watch out what’s going on here, judging by your interactions with HR and anyone at the company for that matter, do you think anyone really cares?

if anything, it just reflects the caliber of employees when people post ridiculous posts.

Sounds like BS post to me. Too long and probably HR hoping people will just apply elsewhere in droves after their enlightening post. Lol. Why don't YOU/OP leave then? Why ask others to stay off this site? Lol. State your opinion's and let people make their own decisions.

Most of the naysayers I believe are from HR. They get tired of being called out. They are tasked with getting a pulse of the people. How they feel and if anything negative comes up, they are tasked with spin control. The posts here at this site constantly calls them out either directly or indirectly and it gets on their nerves.

People don’t like to feel helpless alone. Also, there’s fear of missing out, you leave for greener pastures while they stay out of fear.

You know there’s something wrong at its core when you have a group of people who don’t want to hear how better things are since you moved. They feel like they missed the boat. So, they shoot any such post down and try to poke holes in it. “if you are truly in greener pastures you would have moved on and would not be on this board” type comments. Totally overlooking that someone may want to re-enforce to others that there are options other than the status quo. Much like @bqu+1qsOEmOg.

Post ID: @OP+1qsOEmOg Can you tell clearly which level needs to be taking the job outside of Citi? Mostly newly joined AVP’s or VP’s or SVP’s?

I sense, As if you are asking to do Citi a favour by leaving, so that the board can save lots of severance. And indirectly asking the employees to do a smooth exit by searching outside and leave.

In this case if you tell what level should leave, then there are lots of AVPs and VPs also following this site. It’s just a shame for us to stick around.
