Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Ford Battery Plant in KY belly up. EV is going great!

Ford battery plant in Kentucky ceased operations building of the plant until AFTER the election.

If it goes one way, they’ll get funding. The other way will be a nice cop out to going bankrupt.

EV sells are really good. Add in GM not hitting their 1 million goal seems real good.

Massive set of EV fires at Rivian plant: over 50 cars! And it's being covered up.

Rivian created a barrier around the cars using tractor trailers so people couldn't see the damage. These are cars that passed quality checks, ready to ship! Have confidence! LOL WOW

EVs are safe and effective. They will save the planet.

Their companies are better managed.

I wouldn't be surprised if they could make money when GM couldn't.

That’s sounds like logic used in GMs pre-bankruptcy years. Guess the China companies are heavily subsidized/owned by their government so maybe it will turn out different for them.

China will lose money on every EV but make it up in volume

If American car companies can't make a go of EVs and you're certain they're a dead end, then let the Chinese EVs come in without restrictions.

Let them try and see what happens.

Do the energy math, EVs are not a viable replacement for ICE in any volume. Calculate the energy footprint from the gov't energy numbers for refined gas, convert to BTUs then look at how much coil, natural gas and nuke energy is needed to charge a nations worth of EVs. Can't be done, do the math for yourself. But if somebody decides to turn the tap off, the few EVs out there may be the only way to go. But it isn't a volume mobility solution for what ever that's worth. Then add in product liability stuff and a dead used car market for EVs and you have the proverbial bridge to nowhere.
