Dear supervisor, I'm not a mind reader.
Does anyone else have a supervisor whose expectations of you are not very clear? I try to clarify expectations with him, but it seems to me that he is not really interested in setting clear expectations. Communication with him is unbearable. He is the main reason, among others, that I would like to leave this company.

OP: you have unrealistic expectations
WWVD?
I experienced this and it's possibly because your supervisor is also constantly guessing what his supervisor is thinking. My supervisor avoided making clear instructions and decisions. He/she only gave instructions like it's not good enough and make it better, get everything done without explaining priorities. He/she left me to make the trade-off and decisions. When sometimes certain things turned out to be not what his/her supervisor wanted, he/she pretended not knowing what I am doing.
I like @3cve+1aHjorQJ's advice and will try to do that.
Be proactive!
Keep everything in writing, and set expectations for yourself based on the goals you have for your career (in and outside of Oxy). If you can’t get clear expectations, set your own and get agreement with your manager, so you can document how you are measuring up for reviews.
You must be LAPC.
@1olp+1aHjorQJ I like it. As if you have any reality connection with Oxy and its work environment. Might as well ask the Klan to be less racist.
The proper thing to do is to act professional in all ways. Treat people right and do your job to the best of your abilities. At the same time watch out for company politics and don’t do anything stupid.
The previous post has good advice, but the reality is you could f yourself trying to maneuver to get another supervisor. Oxy doesnt like people playing chess. The old supervisor could get a grudge and try to sc--w you or have their allies sc--w you. Understand the playing board before you make a move,
Yes, some supervisors are promoted to such a position despite not being supervisor material. If you've already tried to get clarification multiple times, it is best to try to find a way to maneuver out of being under said supervisor. Trust me, a bad supervisor is a bad supervisor and the only ones who will get burned are those under them. Find someone above that supervisor who can help you move into another team or role pronto. Good luck.
It is the employees responsibility to also ask if they are unsure about expectations or if there has been no communication. What are you like ten years old?
Oxy supervisors are and have been the worst choices one could make for leadership and technical competence. The majority are 'yes' people, who do what they are told and don't have any guts,
