Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Westwood Kmart is NOT closing! Now please stop posting false information.

I was there and they are not closing. I know everyone wants more closings, and everyone wants to know when the next list is and who's closing and who lives on to see another day, believe me I get it. But posting fake closing announcements just stirs the p-t and is not helpful to the overall discussion of Sears/Kmart.

Of course that store is not currently closing. But why are you bumping a dormant thread from Months ago? When you do that, it bumps this useless thread to the top of the list (when you sort by active threads). There is not need for that. If you have some new news, then start a new thread. Don't bump these ancient ones. Mods should just lock the threads that haven't been posted on, for more than 7 Days.

why are people waiting for the next shoe to drop unless you are retiring shortly? Afraid of a better job?

Delusional UOAWCMTFOC (User Of Acronyms Who Can't Make Them Funny Or Cute). See how ridiculous that sounded?

Hint: Acronyms only work if they spell out something similar to a real word. For example, the "CARES" ACT (The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act), works, because "CARES" is a word. Yahoo (Yet Another Hierarchically Organized Oracle) works, because yahoo is somewhat of a word.

SKSAGJI doesn't work, because it's not a real word. It just sounds stup!d. It's not even a word that's easily pronounceable in the English language. Fail.

@1oet+1didZ5A0 Yes at some point in the future, the Westwood Kmart is closing for good. I know that. And quite possibly the very near future. However, my point was that it’s not closing right now at this moment. So the “liquidation signs spotted at Westwood” was false.

“My Kmart is not closing!”
Heard that delusional denial dementia more than the “Trolls” claiming otherwise.

Again, it's about common sense. No, I don't think people should be allowed to write "Guam is closing", when they Know it's fake. Fake news does nobody any good. Posts should be vetted for accuracy and to weed out spam/trolling. Just inventing fake stuff was never the intention here. What good does that do to anyone?

You should start your own Sears discussion forum and run it to your liking.

So to be clear, the problem is people are spreading rumor and idle speculation on a site that exists to spread rumor and idle speculation. Do I have it about right?

If for some reason the Sears topic needs extra moderator attention... they should pull the plug entirely. It's long overdue.

@auu+1didZ5A0 Nobody saw sh!t. Some idi0t just lied about :seeing" signs in a troll post. Learn the difference between someone "posting" something, and your actually "verifying" something through a link, image, or your own 2 eyes. I could Say I Won the Lottery yesterday, but that would not mean anything until and unless I prove it. I could Say I'm going to play in the NBA next Month, but that statement is meaningless without proof. Proof, or it didn't happen.

@whq+1didZ5A0 What sort of purity am I looking for? What should we Talk about here, you ask? Easy, we discuss layoffs or closings that we can prove with links. My suggestion was, that moderators should perhaps consider starting to remove any claim of a closing that does not have a link attached to it. If someone posts, "hey, Marshall MI is closing, and here is the link to it:

https://www.sb360.com/select-projects/events/sears-list/ ",

then fine, have at it! But if someone falsely posts XYZ store is closing, with no link, then that thread should be deleted. Maybe, the anonymous format here needs to be tweaked. Perhaps, we could look at a username format, as other forums use. Obviously, people could still use quasi-anonymous usernames like "Soccerfan23" or whatever, but at least each poster would be tied to a username, so it would be easier to regulate the nonsense on here and ban the perpetrators of fake news.
After all, we are here to share genuine, real closing news, not false, invented stuff. I could post "Guam is closing Tomorrow", but what good does that do to anybody? We all Know it's not true, so I should absolutely NOT be allowed to post fake garbage like that. Now, that's an easy thing to notice that it's fake. In other cases, it's not so obvious.
This is a privately owned website, so there should be at least some regulation on what's allowed to be posted on here. After all, if someone kept posting false news on a NFL forum (like Tom Brady got traded to the Jets or some nonsense like that), the person would be stopped from doing so. Anybody shouldn't just be allowed to post anything. There should be a vetting process. We don't need the same garbage every Week about Avenel, Miami, or whatever other fantasy closings, some basement dweller feels like inventing each Week. It's getting old now. If they won't stop posting it, then those people should be banned from here.
That's why the format of this website should perhaps be reconsidered. There are several solutions that might work. Just constructive food for thought.
Because, if the mods don't do anything, then this garbage will still persist until it gets to the point where nobody will read the site because it's just full of trolling, and/or spam. What good would that do? Let's report real retail, Sears-related news.

@auu+1didZ5A0 I went there yesterday, after someone else had posted about liquidation signs up at Westwood Kmart, to see if indeed this was true. And guess what NO liquidation signs whatsoever. Just someone posting another false closing.

And yes I know Westwood’s number is coming up soon since their’s only 14 Kmarts left, but for now it’s still open.

When was the last time there was a "layoff" at a Sears store? More to the point, when was the last time an actual employee of Sears used this forum to speculate or pass rumors about a possible layoff at Sears?
What sort of purity is it you're looking for? What should people be talking about regarding Sears? If an actual Sears employee posted any actual mailroom level inside Sears gossip, how would you know?

Good luck trying to manage an anonymous message board. Let me know how that goes for you. In all honesty, you would getting better results if you stood on the street corner and screamed your information for the world to hear. Good luck with that.

Thank you! Someone needed to go there. This inventing of fake closings, by people (like so many recent posts have done, about Tukwila, Avenel, USVI, Miami, this store, and so many others), lowers the credibility of this site. If people keep seeing fake news here then the boy who cried wolf, scenario, begins to set in. There are plenty of trolls in their basements, who get off on this stuff, for some reason.
So, I think the only alternative is for moderators to start possibly screening/vetting these posts, and maybe weed out the obviously false ones. Because the basement dwellers are not going to stop their id1otic troll posts, and it's going to continue to lower the credibility of the people who post genuine information here. This garbage has always been there, but seems to have picked up considerably, in the last 6 Months, OR SO.
It really needs to be curtailed, or what's going to happen is some id!ot in his basement, is going to post the name of every single remaining store, on a rotating basis, and claim it's closing, so nobody will ever be able to take anything here seriously.
This nonsense needs to be nipped in the bud, yesterday.
