Thread regarding Occidental Petroleum Corp. layoffs

Another quarterly loss

Even with price of oil above what we were told was the break even point, Oxy reports another loss for Q1. That makes six in a row (actually seven if you look at operating income/losses). How as employee shareholders are we supposed to believe in this train wreck?

Hey @1ocw+1aM9yaqa, can you read what you posted and then reword it so it makes sense? Thanks

You people still think this publically traded company exists for you and not the shareholders. You should try working in a private company where the investors/owners are the only entity that matters and not the employees.

Another stellar quarter - and the stock market reacts appropriately again! Sell, sell, sell! What a dog!

You don't have to believe in anything. If you are employee, you can quit. If you are a shareholder, sell. Simple - all done. I'm sure you have many other things you want to complain about, so move on.

Oxy actually beat street expectations. Look at all of the oil companies and many are showing a loss. In this environment it is still very tough.

Illegal activity??? You need to back that up with facts.

The thing that is so troubling is the bad business decision hurts the investors much more than the company. The CEO and executives are still raking in the cash. Even the employees are still doing well with their bonuses and LTI. The average investor holding before the big drop lost value and got screwed out of dividends. Why is the status quo allowed with this outfit. I thought Carl Icahn was going to clean things up at the top.

There really should be a class action suit brought if illegal activity took place. Did any mega state pension plans lose money due to this merger? They would have enough clout to do something about recovering damages.

The APC acquisition was/is a disaster. The story that was told by Oxy management in 2019 about expected cash flow & income (at this oil price) was false - so outrageously overblown that it defied credibility. And now here we are. The SEC should take a look at it.

Is the breakeven point on cash flow or on net income? This may be the difference.
