Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Unrealistic expectations

No one wants to work at a place where they constantly have to fear losing their job. I don't have any motivation anymore.
My boss acts as if we should be grateful to be working here, although I believe there are also those who have realized that they cannot expect too much because people are exhausted and completely demoralized?

Zero leadership (or deficit) = staff fence for themselves and being pushed to compete against one another. The most toxic sick culture most of us have ever been through,!! Its like living in a "torture" chamber no light at the end of the tunnel! Yes, getting out is the best path forward after severance package (whatever left of it).

Now we all know what it's like to be a professional athlete. Every year they bring in 4-5 people at your job to motivate/compete/replace you. #itslife #noguarantees

@1nug+1mKsCHSK That's exactly what I thought when they laid me off. I was super depressed from all the busy days and unrealistic expectations of me. A few weeks after I got laid off was all it took for me to shake it off and realize that there is something better out there.

Unrealistic expectations because majority of the scrums and managers do not understand what is being asked and what needs to be done and they simply dump everything on the team. Understaffed not a problem we will cross train everyone so if someone is kicked out or quit we will dump more stuff on these people and we will say you were cross trained we expect you to do that, but you will not be paid extra for that.

That's ok. Let the fear fly away once you are kicked out. I was kicked out and found a different place +50k + real bonus(not like they give here 0.0000005 and you have to kiss their toes for that 0.000065 bonus and raise) + stock option

It’s a me me me culture. Look for yourself and this quarter or month. They don’t care or have capacity to look beyond. Extremely insecure top management, should be shown door by activist Investors.

When you have a top guy with Econ. background coming from a “colonial” culture feeding into “greed frenzy” it’s spelked disaster for PT care. Witnessed other well run healthcare strategically put in place top chief (s) with real healthcare background.

I agree, the toxic culture is horrible. I go from people lacking integrity and ethics to meet metrics. If you say something about it they cry racism. Then the constant fear of layoffs and also there are people who have worked there for years and have been laid off 3 or 4 times. They have lives, kids, their livelihood is tied to their jobs. I tried to be encouraging and positive but eventually the anger in them takes over. There is also the people that come over from the company’s that Optum merges with or buys. They are angry also. They were made to work as temps, no benefits or OT for a year before being hired on with Optum. It’s a super toxic culture. They are mean to new hires that don’t have to work as temps. There are horror stories of supervisors fighting amongst themselves in the name of metrics. Nothing is ever about the patient. Constant clerical errors and nothing is done to correct it or learn a better way. The patients all suffer also in the name of the company pushing as many shipments or patients thru the door. I work in Home infusion. It’s insane.
