Do we all agree that if a site put out 5000 units a years in the past with say 2500 employees, that with automation, lean, black belts in theory GE should empliyee far fewer employees today? (Leaving aside the fact that demand is way down compared to 20-25 years ago) It’s not your daddy’s GE anymore. Embrace the modern (lean) GE!

Everyone loves lean until your job is on the chopping block.
CA=undermining membership.
appears we have a rocket scientist in our midst
Lean us right into the overtime pool here in 273. Being a t rate isn’t bad with about 30 hours a week in overtime. Making more than ops leaders do.
Lean has done great things here in 273 it created a lot of overtime opportunities for me.
I take all the overtime I can I even bump people out of their Overtime. My goal is to clear $100k this year
I think we have to many company pole greasers.
@1not+1p7MmgKg, the CA is the road to the future, fewer people doing more and no claiming "that's my job"...you do whatever your told by the man "GE"
In Schenectady they have to many ops leaders and bosses who don’t know what they are doing. It’s very comical and sad at the same time. They promote the wrong people to positions and us union guys don’t take them seriously
The CA will bury us.
Im cool with cutting mgt too, but that’s not a free pass on cutting bloated hourly fat
It's time to lean out management. To many chiefs and not enough Indians.
AI and offshoring are big issues too
The union will bend over and hand everything to the company from the contract. Then the layoffs will happen again
I love lean, we should embrace technology. McDonalds, Wal-Mart, Amazon and Starbucks are all hiring...so there are jobs. Your dad deserved big bucks, you; not so much, as automation and off-shoring replaces you. It did me and I'm cool with that it's called evolution! BE HAPPY!
I believe CEO pay should increase and hourly rates remain flat until their productivity increases (do more with less)
Yes! And respect the Intl and Local union leaders that have helped in the transition! The CA being one great example.
