Thread regarding IBM layoffs

I'm feeling very lonely

I often join calls and most who talk do not understand the problems neither can contribute to the solutions, just talk and talk without clarity or direction, always back to square one. When a good idea is presented they fail to recognize it and often fight it. Unfortunately the talent necessary to recognize when an idea is good is the same required to come up with a good idea.

This is because you work for people with business degrees, not scientists or engineers.

It doesn’t matter how brilliant your ideas are. If it’s not with the “in” thing, your brilliant idea is not going to go anywhere. So disheartening. I’m looking forward to being part of a company that my ideas will have some weight, merit, and be heard.

I work at IBM, and I drink... something wrong with that.

This is the cry of something dying inside of you. If you don't heed its call, you'll start drinking before noon.. Make sure you don't have any loaded firearms in the house.
Don't worry, after some point, you'll be insensitive to it and will do as all the drones around you.

@1nmt+1en4qt5C Son, what is an "eng mgr" We don't have those. A "mgr" that knows anything about "eng" does NOT exist. They just don't.

Feeling ungrateful and unhappy. I recently switched jobs about 4 months ago. The new job offers new learning experience, good team culture, good pay and all. But I’m not enjoying the work at all. Just feels like it’s the same sh*t and I’m not excited by it (eng mgr). I am not sure if it’s remote burnout, or because I haven’t taken a break btween jobs, or the eng work that I feel over with. As a result I’m not doing the best work I could be doing, so it’s frustrating. How do I address this issue?

IBM is a total waste of time... Look somewhere else if you want your ideas to be recognized. The only reason I am still at IBM is because I am coasting... My real job is somewhere else.

Parts of IBM has always had the mantra of , " If you can not dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bull...."
