Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Any layoffs in places outside of America, Canada, and Europe?

I've only seen these locations announce layoff targets (not pip). Just curious what other countries (if they were) are impacted and what potential numbers.

Lots of new hires in Budapest (Hungary), even for jobs which are not "at risk" for the time being. Sound rumour that they are looking for a much larger office building there.

In Europe 1600 people are "cut", in Brussels HQ ¼ of the population needs to go. And go fast.
GBC's are the future - everyone who works with GBC's daily knows how things are done there, the guidance and corrections they need from the local countries to keep operations going and that will no longer be possible. Big fail.
Migrating jobs from any single person, many with 30-35 years of experience (and loyalty!), to cheaper countries allows (and will require!) EM to hire 3 persons in a GBC. The overall EM work force will increase and what a success in overall cost cutting, Work quality? Not important.
But hey, GBC's KPI's are outstanding, says management (even if not reflecting reality)!
Those not (yet) fired do not need a long term vision for the company, so says management.
Is it any wonder that many people already left or want to leave the company? And it is not like in the US, where you can retire much earlier than is allowed in Europe!

3 Argentines is still cheaper than 1 American. They get cheaper by the day too due to the out of control inflation and currency weakening in Argentina.

you need 3 argentines to equal the productivity of one US employee.

This is such a stupid argument. The same can be said about any experienced employee in exxonmobil. It takes 3 new hires to replace one person with experience.

In Argentina they're actively recruiting by sending out emails to employees to invite their friends and family to apply for "new" jobs. They post about how much they're growing on yammer constantly. Hundreds jobs leaving the US and arriving in Argentina.

They brag about it every chance they get. Of course, you need 3 argentines to equal the productivity of one US employee. The BSC quality of service is terrible.
