Is XOM really looking at re-hiring those who got laid off? One of my previous manager who I am on neutral terms with reached out to me unofficially told me that the company cut too many people and just now realizing that and then asked me if I would have any interest in re-joining and if I wanted he could refer me in. Thought this was very odd of him asking me that. When I heard that I asked him what benefit would I gain returning back after a dry, brutal, insensitive, and inhumanity conducted lay off that got me and other folks without fault or performance related issues, he fumbled answering as to why I should join back other than the damned retirement benefit and pension sh-t.
As everyone knows, the unspoken rule at XOM is to usually not to hire previous employees unless someone hire up wants you back or the company can't find the rare skills to do the job, otherwise XOM stays away from rehiring ex employees.
I am thinking why would I want to rejoin XOM again when,
- The "care" is fake
- Performance assessment process is fake
- The culture makes good people transform in biting snakes in no time. Don't believe me? Look at all posts made on LI by these snakes
- The company touts about flexibility but punshies those that use it
- The long term career is gone with year on year contract
- Doesn't want to diversify in other areas
- Not even viagra can lift the stock
What others reason would you list not to go back or join new with XOM? The mgmt. post on LI indicate XOM being the best company to work on the planet when it is not.
Finally, to what point the mgmt. would stoop below standards than pulling stunts like this in rubbing those that are already hurt by company malpractice.
