Was boring, in a hunger games light sort of way, I’m more engaged and entertained trolling this site…

I really don’t have time to put down my thoughts at the end of a 16-hour work day, including taking time to listen to parts 2&3 of DW forum. but I found the sweeping statement about wanting everyone to pull their weight as analogous in a football team, and conveniently used meritocracy as a sorry excuse for MRLP, affronting. And I’m ranked outstanding last cycle. I don’t buy this bs

We all know people who worked extremely hard and pulled their weight got PIP’d. it is insulting to say system is meritocratic, as if these people deserve it because they weren’t pulling their weight. So many other non-meritocratic reasons come into play - if you are in an operations job, you lose out to a strategic planner; a maintenance role loses to a process role. If you have a sponsor, is in the correct time zone or location you’ll get more face time or roped in to the great projects… and well and good. But someone has to do all the dirty, support, operational type of roles, keep the lights on, and many of our folks do these very well. why are they then THAT team member that deserves to be PIP’d?

And really? Putting people on a 3-month PIP program and beating up their morale will help them make such vast improvement , that they come off it and ranked much better after? Show us the data, come on. Clean up all the personal details but give us the data. One of us EMIT people can put in powerBI and do lots of slice and dice.

We are not organised like a football team. We are organised like 100m sprinters pretending to be working in teams, but obviously someone’s success is my failure. We are all trying so hard to not be that last man on the track, and if someone else is in that last position we have no incentive to help him succeed. Care and have fun? my a55

I’ve so much to annoyance listening to him but it’s in the wee morning for me now. More thoughts later

I was at the forum. No NDAs to sign. Rex’s campus forums were all indoors too in Energy Center.

Darren made himself clear that the company doesn’t care about the high attrition we are seeing, attrition rate better than industry, never seen so many candidates queuing for EM job openings, whoever not happy, door is opened, no one is irreplaceable. Don’t complain about MLRP and just work harder to get more competitive. Have fun in the winning team. Only winner will have fun…

As usual - a lot of talking with nothing actually said. A lot of talk about culture and core values as if we had any.

It was on EMInformation. Just download the app and you can see it there. Otherwise it should be available on the intranet soon I would think

He explicitly mentioned the 2022 salary treatment program was just launched today

So listened to the recording. He does mention certain programs coming back and specifically says at 1 hour 14 minutes in that folks will be encouraged when raises come out in January. I'm convinced no matter what the raise is that folks will leave. My concern is that they at the base case are keeping up with CPI. Not what they feel CPI actually is. We're all seeing higher costs for everything today and feeling the pinch that. We have no crystal ball to know how long this "transitory" CPI will last.

Not surprisingly, he fully endorses the career development system. No specific mention of pips, of course, but one can assume that support of these are implied.

Good words on the old “functional silos” company structure- a ridiculous amount of functional companies existed prior to 2018.

Expectations from DW should keep in mind that when he was selected for the top levels at age 21-22, the first things they tested were his resolve to never let reality seep in his plans or words and his ability to lie like he breaths.

DW tried to make fun of himself. Asked you made the Hi---r video, to offer him/her a job with his sucky PR team.
He said he didn’t lose the board vote.
He told us they have been hearing from people how great it feels to have less people - workers more engaged, teams leaner, doing more with less, synergies, efficiencies, collaboration, meritocracy,
He said everything is hunky dory.
He’s said the Exxodus is fake news, that he gets people who tell him they love it at EnronMobil.

I would not be surprised if everyone had to sign an NDA with their own blood not to disclose the “real” forum contents.
I guess we will see the “edited” version with canned laughter and adoring audience on the intranet soon.
I would still love to know which clown removed the slido questions, leadership is about providing a compelling purpose for you to do the best job you can, and therefore massively inconsistent with removing the legitimate questions from slido that the rank and file want answered. Dictatorial and Stalinesque.

My understanding is the Real DW was not available today.
Oct 28 Congressional Hearing is the main focus.

In his stead, as could be expected, there was an easily available and quite cheap Durwood model:

Yes Rex stood outside the cube in front of anyone who wanted to be there to dedicate the plaque in honor of the new campus that says it's about the people. Guess Darren didn't get invited!

I'm going to go out on limb here and say the overlap between people who post on the layoff and people that would voluntarily attend Darren's super special secret employee forum isn't large.

Dunno why they can't just stream the forum or have him talk in the quad or in front of the cube if they're that keen on social distancing. Didn't Rex address employees on campus outdoors at one point? Anyway, is funny how covid precautions only matter to the big D when they're convenient for him....

Couldn’t park the jet on time.
Complained about being overpaid, under appreciated.
Congratulated himself on a great year, great performance, great culture.
Everything is awesome: the crown jewel, Guyana, and all the massive discoveries in Brazil and the moon.
Demanded we keep working hard for his RSUs, and grandma’s dividend, and a world that wants to fry on oil.
Also algea 2.0 is working so chill.
And Congress can’t touch him.
So all is fine, now go back for the next round of PIP: you may win this time.
So much winning.
He took a cube pic.

DW said in the past we’ve PIP’ed 10% per year so 8% was actually a reduction in PIPs. The system is working great and will continue. Attrition is right in line with expectations, and in fact we’re doing way better than our O&G peers!

Most of all, it’s important to know that DW regrets nothing and everything is sunshine and rainbows.
