Severance Payout

‘‘Twas the night before severance and all through the state
Not a single sh--e was given, about GF’s doomed fate.
Those laid off, soon to be fed
While visions of direct deposits danced in their head.
Many of them already reemployed, double dipping on GF’s dime
A windfall of cash just before summertime!

Ah , ok . Read it as a diss to laid off people .
Hopefully they pick up soon .
I’ve seen people go back before .
Good luck on your search …

As OP and someone who was laid off, I have a sovereign right to levity. 😉

The way I read it is that when we signed off the agreement , we gave up rights . The severance was part of the signed agreement and should be paid .
To the OP , no one asked to be laid off .
Kind of an odd piece of poetry given the situation…

I emailed GF HR Support this AM. Here is the response:

Severance and cobra lump sum will pay on 4/7.

Regardless of 60 days of severance, the cobra payout should come as benefits end next week. Unless GF plans too keep us payroll or just delay in banking, the non cobra payout before next week would mean breach in contract. As we lose health benefits.

At this point they are not contractual obliged to payout severance as were officially no longer GF employees. Our part of contract has been fulfilled.

This could affect unemployment though as NYS unemployment office needs to see no money from employer given for whole week. With a large lump sum still out there NYS may not pay as technically your still on severance payout.

Hope tomorrow. But, it said, soon after last day, but no later than 60 days?
Considering still March, Q1, to hold our big lump sum till Q2, will help to make financial data shining??? Hope, I am over negative… Anyway, wake up tomorrow morning to see what will happen…
