Schenectady will have massive job cuts for 66 and 273. There is no work in 273 and 66’s work can be done anywhere.

What GE management has done since 2000 hasn't worked since they gutted out engineering and manufacturing expertise and tried to turn Turbine Generator product department into a warm body commodity business,.
We used to make around 1,500 generators a year in Bldg 273 before GE turned into a failed high cost, low quality outsourcing outfit.
Now production is spread all over the world, huge overhead and high cost where GE Power has been has lost billions last 5 years, and barely breaks even on a good year despite billions in sales.
Yeah end of February is what I’m hearing. Shop and the office crew has a target on their backs. This place is not healthy. Gone is the Ge I grew up in. Things went south after that hyped up Alston deal and all the BS that went with it.

Layoffs on the way after February 9th. Every T Rate will be back out the door or to the bottom again then out the door soon after.
@1lkf+1eFMLRT4. You're mostly correct about 66 being more flexible, that's why its there today. It was the battery plant not long ago. I think that makes it more vulnerable, as soon as the technology can be moved out of there, it will be. Where as 237 has been around forever in some capacity, and that's not likely to change.
I personally feel that 66 is mostly safe because it doesn't cost as much to maintain and sit idle as 273 does. 66 can maintain a purpose at a lower cost and is more flexible/appliable for change that will undoubtedly come in the future. I won't be surprised if GE eventually slows down Schenectady to a steady crawl just to keep the appearance of a production factory going. They won't need high skilled labor or 273 for that.
Here we go with the dates again, just like last year. Remember how many layoffs they said were coming last year. They probably gave a date every month.

Anything is possible. Your memory doesn’t have to be very long to go back to the battery plant fiasco and all the drama it created, and the promises and deals that were made…

It surely does take a special kinda re--rdation to show it so proudly! For starters, no layoff signed document, takes everyone past feb. Second, the work in 66 can not be done anywhere else in the world as of yet, so you clearly have no idea what’s going on in 66! If your so bored at your job, and hate those around you so much, just quit and go work at Walmart.
