PTHA ? I am no longer in the abyss with the rest of the GE flock, so i need a translation.

As far as GRC being financially independent, that may happen someday, they certainly are driving toward that as a goal, but I very much doubt it can be done indefinitely, and especially not at the current headcount. Look at other places, Xerox Research Center in Toronto area, they are now open and advertising to take work from anywhere, so they are going down the same path as GRC is.

HRL is still owned by Boeing/GM, but is largely doing its own thing and working off other people's money, but their headcount is maybe 250 people total. And they don't have VA and his voluminous crew of E-band hangers-on and yes-men, dragging the payroll down.

Do these trackers have a "leader" title yet?

One way to bring the hourly rate down is to eliminate those tracking progress. Right now it’s about 10 trackers for every 1 person making things happen.

@anonymous, fake! They already reclassified a number of activities to improve the alr and thereby lower the hourly rate. No raises this cycle though 😒.

@1leg+14ZHuQMS. With so many corporate hogs at the trough, no GE division is "independent" !!!

Might as well. There is only so many ways to put up a for sale sign, hand out pink slips, and paraphrase the statements to investors, "Be patient. We are optimizing cost structure, generating growth, and liquidity is solid."

But how much further can they shrink. Didn't they close all other non US sites other than India in 2017? I think they are financially pretty independent at this point, due to focus shift towards government funding.

They will never close it. Very bad for PR. A company that does not invest in future has no future. Government contracts are ongoing.

GRC will likely shrink its footprint over time. Even now it plays second fiddle as it is under aviation.

The glory days are over. I did my five years there and moved on.
