If you look at Exxon, Chevron, Conoco, and a few others layoffs are on the horizon for them. At least with Vicki she has been good about not having layoffs like other large companies. At Exxon they seem to use PIPS as a way to drive out many employees every year, and Chevron is starting to cut people as well with jobs moving to India. Many companies are calling employees back to the office full-time, and we are still allowed to work a hybrid scehdule. Sometimes one really needs to sit back and realize just how good they have it. It could be a lot worse and I am grateful to have what we have.

Wrong. OXY keeps less than average players. Includes hires who misrepresented themselves on their resumes and interviews and have proven they are not up to the job. This would NOT be allowed elsewhere.
Problem is that the house cleaning requires a shakeup of management and executive. If they do not get the company aligned from the top down, firing line staff will not change anything. Company is in caretaker mode till they get the debt manageable. Stock going to $45 by Xmas.
Oxy needs a good old fashioned lay-off to show these young people what a real company is like. They have it too easy. Bunch of spoiled people. Layoffs build character.
Was working a big project once. When I questioned how long it would take to finish, my boss said ...There are twenty four hours in the day , and there is night. WFH is a nice situation... When computer workstations appeared in the early 80's; we had three/ eight hour shifts each day. Not uncommon to get the midnight to eight am shift. Enjoy your flexibility.
@1jzo+1vZVtISf, really?? I thought that was the only intelligent comment on this post.

Absolutely braindead take. It's almost unbelievable.
@1ymx -- Did you know Oxy pays for the office space at night, all weekend, and even on holidays, too? You should go back in 24/7/365.
You pointed out all of the actions that the company should be taking now including having layoffs and moving people back to the office. How ridiculous to expect to work from home 2 days a week now. The company still has all of the office space to pay for so why not use it 5 days a week. If you claim more gets done when you are at home then there is something wrong with what you are doing at the office.
You are lucky Oxy keeps average players. To compare Oxy to Exxon or Chevron almost made me fall off my chair. You are a minor league company at best ....comparing the business practices of blue chip companies. You are fortunate that Oxy has no spine to do what is necessary to right the ship. Management mistakes will catch up. You will wish you were somewhere else....
