It’s the dawn of a new day. The Sears and KMart brands are iconic, and consumers are anxious to start shopping at their favorite store again.

Moving forward, we can expect lots of exciting new activity with the new Growth Plan!

1 job posting for an entire store? Sounds more like they're opening a kiosk.

Nope. The only future opening confirmed will be the Gates of He-l, once Eddie gets there.

Grasping at straws, OP?

@1jre+1nzmw1o8 Yep! Imagine thinking this was anything other than a lease obligation, fulfillment. Your Miami Kmart analogy was spot on. That store is smaller than my garage, but it fulfills a lease requirement, nothing more than that. This is not part of some grand Sears comeback. It is just going to be a tiny store, smaller than a racquetball court, probably just a glorified, online-pickup point, like their small format stores used to be.

Maybe they couldn't get out of the lease. They probably closed to renovate the space in order to sub-lease most of it out. Since Sears can't draw flies to a cow pie, they'll get the rent paid by renting the space to others. However, if they're still required to maintain a presence at the mall, they can still re-open a small spot and sell feather dusters or something...............kind of like Kmart in Miami moving into the garden center and selling toothpaste and deodorant and leasing the main store to someone else.
