... one month after the Framework. Hope we have enough people on the asset teams by year-end.

I mean…that wave was about 3 years ago. Sure there have been some technical staff around since then but the company is already on a skeleton crew. Has been for a while.

The funny thing is technical staff and more technical people at the top are what the company really needs to recover and become something again. But every position on the job board is some application analyst or accounting nonsense lol.

The “best answer wins” philosophy has always been nothing more than a cover for the decision maker, who decrees whatever decision they made was the best one.

No one ever goes back and reassesses whether the decision that was made was, in fact, the “best” one that could or should have been made.

Or, I suppose, if someone does do such a retrospective analysis, when it is determined that the decision made was not, in fact, the best one, said person often gets fired.

The company lost its way years and years ago. The previous CEO thought of himself as a big deal maker and lost focus on sticking to what the company did best. The current CEO, who appeased the previous one even to the point of intentionally sabotaging the company’s future as region VP, is even more delusional. Perhaps there is a future for the company, but it is hard to see what it is these days.

The "best answer wins" philosophy should apply to hiring talent as well since the best person for the job may not always be from within. The "must have done something right" ignores conditions during their run as if the world has been the same since the founding of the company.

Is the company better now than it was? Certainly not. Has the world stayed the same since Minnesota? Certainly not.

No leader is perfect but Raymond built the company, with his partners, so he must have done something right. Every regime comes to an end and I believe we promoted from within when we should have gotten fresh executive leadership blood form outside.

The Raymond days were great but let's not kid ourselves, he wasn't really hands on even during many of the years he was in the office. He was more of a mascot and representation of Apache's better days than a chief executive. If it were up to him, we would still have a large presence on the shelf.

The fact is that the executive team has decided that they don’t need the overpaid (in their opinion) technical staff. I mean really who needs the people who find and assess the hydrocarbon resource we produce anyway?!?!?! Of course, with the dwindling inventory across the assets maybe we do need less RE’s and Geologists. Besides if we cut payroll then it will justify our bloated compensation packages when we meet the cash goals for this year.

The two EVP’s at the head of the exploration and development pillars are just playing along so they can cash their paychecks. They certainly are not going going to go to bat for the staff and upset the system that they are milking.

So, HR under the direction of MM with the suspect guidance of the CFO and SRVP of planning are going to crater the company while the CEO stands by and lets them do it. There is no way they are going to reduce their staff so it has to come from somewhere.

Entitlement is the new Apache culture but it is only for the executives and their favorites.

This place su-ks. I wish Raymond was still alive and in charge because it has been all downhill since he left. Maybe we would have a chance of being successful if he was still running the show.
