I took this layoff very hard, although some of my colleagues say that they actually secretly wished to get paid to leave.

I made out like a bandit with this company. Easy job for the last 6 years and banked a lot of cash. Barely work so I can take care of myself and the family. Buddied with my direct and his direct. E10. I knew about this ahead of time and it was my decision. Perfect timing since I needed this extra money for a boat that they are building. Time to milk another cow. Waiting for the email confirmation after the verbal. I think we have 12 months before we can come back for another round to milk this puppy?
- 5 years in meta. 4 months plus 17 weeks. I will take a job at 65 to 70% of my previous pay but i have a good rainy day fund.. so i am going to not look for a job the next 3 months.
E8 here. I need my total compensation. At least 50% of it to stay afloat. Two new cars, and a new house, not paid for in cash. I need to get a $600K total compensation package elsewhere, or I am going under.
Meta and its affiliated companies ( FB, WhatsApp etc) will be shunned by potential talents - mainly from top tier companies universities. Lesson - see You Intel Corp, you don’t find many who want to join Intel from top tier universities since 2009. That has landed Intel where it is today. Frequent layoff and over hiring is bane of tech companies. That is sign that these companies staff executives who are incompetent.

"dude, you are dellusional if you think a company will pay you 80% of your Meta pay"
The original post said ok with 80% hair cut. i.e. 20% of meta pay.
"Checking Indeed and LinkedIn daily, I will take whatever job they offer me even a 80% pay cut."
dude, you are dellusional if you think a company will pay you 80% of your Meta pay. Expect to see a 40% paycut and guess what, you'll have to pay for your own breakfast, lunch and dinner
I feel a bit nervous about the future however also a bit ecstatic at the prospect of a new adventure. I built up a large rainy day fund while keeping my wants and needs minimal. It does not look like the best time to be looking for work but I will find something somewhere that is not subject to the whims of one who thinks they are a semi-divine all knowing figure not subject to the laws of the universe.
How do you feel after being cut?
Like I got reamed up the *ss by the big one
4 months pay plus 10 weeks, I'm ok plus my RSU vests in 4 days.
Checking Indeed and LinkedIn daily, I will take whatever job they offer me even a 80% pay cut.
