Thread regarding Sears layoffs

SB360

And then there was one. SB360 now only has 1 store listed on their site (Grass Valley CA). Big question is, will we actually see zero stores on that site? If nothing else is added before Dec. 19, when Grass Valley Kmart drops off, there will actually be zero stores liquidating. That might not have happened in Years!

@1jei+1e10TmPq Can you Tell me when, in recent history, there were no currently liquidating stores? I'm not doubting you, but I'm just genuinely curious. I honestly can't remember such a period (maybe I'm just forgetful). Again, as mentioned, the closest to that I can remember, is: 1., when there was on Raleigh NC closing this Summer, & 2., now, with only Grass Valley CA closing. I remember 2 periods of one store closing at a Time, but I don't remember ever seeing zero currently closing stores (at least since the SB 360 website became a thing in 2020).

Maybe there was a Time with zero stores closing at the given moment, but I certainly can't remember it, and I Check SB's site on almost a Daily basis (don't ask).

I hope they feed some more closings into the pipeline, before the current store runs dry, because as someone who is a closing enthusiast, it would be extremely disappointing to see an empty closing list. It's like having a bench full of home run hitters, yet they're sitting on the bench. Go up to bat, and do something! We have so many tasty potential closings, sitting on the table. Let's go out and eat!

Certainly won’t the first time in recent history whereas there’s been a period of no stores currently in liquidation. Seems as though this topic is brought up every time the list withers down.

And there are also 100's of Sears Hometown stores. They are franchised, and still bear the name "Sears". A new one just opened up:

There are 18 full-sized Sears stores that are so far not closing.

Orlando, FL
Palm Beach Gardens, FL

Braintree, MA
Frederick, MD
Greensboro, NC
Jersey City, NJ
Newburgh, NY
Willow Grove, PA
San Juan (Hato Rey), PR
El Paso, TX

Tukwila, WA

In addition to these, 7 company-owned small-format Sears stores are open under the names 'Home & Life' or 'Appliances and Mattresses'

@nvc+1e10TmPq There is way more than 1 store left, buddy. OP only stated that there is only ONE store currently liquidating on SB360's list (Grass Valley CA Kmart). There are still 12 other non-closing Kmarts, and some number of full line Sears, as well as over 300 Sears Hometown stores left that are not currently closing.

We might never fully get rid of all Sears and Kmarts. I think Kmarts in Guam and USVI will always remain, and at least some Sears Hometown stores will remain. A new one just opened last Week, so they're not going to go down to zero any Time soon. A few stragglers will still linger.

Crazy to think that there's only one store left. Soon none. Good riddance SearsMart.

Ya, that would be fairly unprecedented if there were zero stores on that list. I think there might have been a brief period, circa August 2021, when there was only ONE store listed (Raleigh NC Sears maybe?). But other than that, since SB360 took over the closing contracts in 2020, there has pretty much always been SOMETHING listed as closing. Now, again, there is only one listed, as you mentioned. They have 3 Weeks to replenish this list, or else Grass Valley Kmart will drop off, leaving, GASP, nothing there!!!???
