Thread regarding Allscripts layoffs

Allscripts and WARN Act 2020

Did Allscripts violate the WARN Act? I didn’t see any notices in North Carolina or Illinois. Shouldn’t they have given some type of advanced notice?

@1jcp+14oQbfy3 : This company has been working towards 100% offshoring and H1B for a long time. That's an industry trend because the labour is cheap when compared to American labour. Unfortunately this also means that the software being developed and tested reflects the cheapness of the labour. Which our customers are seeing firsthand. And one of the big reasons they are so unhappy.

They didn't let people go in one fell swoop. They let them go in bunches. This way they avoided having to tell people.

It not moral, but nothing the c wing does is moral. They only care about lining their pockets. They get what they pay for which us why the product and support is so bad

Large employers must give advance notice of mass layoffs, but there are exceptions for natural disasters and unforeseeable business circumstances—which could apply in situations like the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic

That could be true. However, what is more concerning to me is that Allscripts is still employing a lot of foreign workers on H1/L1 visas and have fired US citizens. How is that not legal / moral? Can we not sue the company over it?
