Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

Merits delayed again

We found out during yesterday’s town hall that merit increases are being delayed yet again – this time to second half of the year. Sound familiar?

At this point, it’s not even just about the money (though inflation isn’t exactly helping) – it’s about how the whole thing is being handled:

  • People are burned out and frustrated.
  • Those who can are quietly looking elsewhere.
  • Loyalty feels like a punishment, not something that gets recognized.

On top of this, there’s a growing expectation to take on more responsibilities in order to "show our value" and prove we're worthy of the merit increases. But let’s be real – it’s just a way to exploit us further without any real recognition or reward. They want us to take on more, but when it comes time to pay up, it’s always “next quarter” or “next year.”

The company debt ruined the company so the groups that own sabre can take the company private again to shift debt and go public again for 30 dollars a share to steal from the public again. Employees are just the casualties of this legal process

The SHS argument is silly and total BS. They can simply not give a hike to SHS. It anyway is a standalone dept, so the math is not complicated + hikes are typically in a 2-3% range for many markets. It is quite simply because we didn’t meet the numbers yet again due to misplaced priorities. Everyone knows what comes next…

Merits are moved to Aug - October time, because the hospitality department transferred to TPG will be complete at the end of September 2025. This way, they have less peps to pay merit and more $$ in their pocket.

Layoffs at Sabre have nothing to do with AI, but losing customers and tech debt.

The same thing happened in 2023. Merits were moved from March to July, and they laid off people in May. But, to be honest, they should reduce employment by 20%, in some teams there are peoply who do nothing ...

Amen to AI taking over many of our jobs. 3/4’s of the 1S staff now use ChatGPT and Gemini to write their emails, reports etc already

Looking at downvotes you live in denial. Microsoft is laying off due to AI. Google is laying off due to AI. And you can't believe Sabre will do the same? Think twice and check how many AI related meetings we have monthly.

Our business isn't really that complicated and a lot of things you do, can, and will be automated. If not by you, it will be done by Coforge folks, and then - answer yourself - if company will see any reason to keep you around?

Was working heavily with AI last few weeks and tbh for most of us it will be the last merit. Around 70-80% of stuff I do can be replaced with AI right now. I know bunch of people where this percentage is pretty much 100%.

At this point I think it will be my last tech job simply because bunch of us won't be needed and I don't feel like searching for some cr-ppy IT gig for year or two.

Merits are now needed to make bonus payments to leaders who are dismantling the company.
