On the day before the holidays the Manager would make sure you left by 11AM. I remember my manager was off that day but another Manager did a walk about the building telling everyone to go home.
Now if you are lucky they tell you after 3pm.

@2w1 I remember those days, that felt like a family company. Thank you for the good memory.
Building #1dearborn had the bagpipe player come thru, dressed in green and red, at around 11am. That was the signal to skee-daddle and have a great well earned holiday break. A very cool tradition.
@1xj Are you a leather or rubber sole?
@1kf the bottom of a shoe has more to offer than you.
@1ja Handshake? Typical Ford employees. OUTDATED! It's fist bumps as the new sign of respect. Get with it bro. Or at least say YABBA DABBA DOO immediately after the traditional handshake. WILLMMMAA!
@1cc I can honestly say that had never happened to me before last year, the handshake, but it was awkward, truly sorry I did it, it wasn't intended to be a slight. When my boss gave me a horrible look afterward, I was terrified and didn't know what to do as it looked like he was telling everyone what an a--hole I was.
Just walk up to your boss when you feel it's appropriate, shake their hand, say Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah or whatever the the occasion and leave. Always a classy move in a company that sometimes lacks it.y
@1bw tbh i agree, burying the lede was more provocative and it had the people going. dually noted. I appreciate the user feedback, been trying a/b testing with different audiences .. lean ux style.
@1bf Can you go a bit more cryptic? These aren't much fun.
When I was a manager, I used to tell my team “manage your own time”. Didn’t have any issues, with one small exception. I had a great team. I suspect my LL2 wouldn’t like now.
@1be BE GRATEFUL SON. Do you know how rare it is to get trafficked and isolated from support through smears and misinformation by a fortune 500 company? Unbelievable arrogance coming from you!
@1bc you know what! my vacation was the legitimate emergency room in the hospital! an guess what! THEY PUNISHED ME when I got back even though I was already their little trafficked victim!! Double whammy!
@1bc IDK about you, but I got retaliated on my first day back!! They don't want you happy!
You have got to be kidding. You have off from Christmas Day through January 2nd as PAID days off for the holiday break (know how rare that is in the working world!?!) and want to complain about what time you get to leave the day before Christmas. Don’t want to work that day? Take it as vacation then.
You guys have holidays off?
A sign of a micro manager.
I still do it in my group.
Not much difference today. Now they just add on "AND DON'T come back".
@a6 ah, sorry to hear, I’ve heard some horror stories out of there.
@a4 Model e
We still do that, what area are you in?
