Good luck everyone, today looks to be a Potentially bad one for us. Let’s try to support and help each other through Pearson’s “leadership”. If you can help each other or have information you want to share, please do.

Wow, I thought we had hit a new low, but we keep getting surprised. I remember when SDB would come across as caring and empathic. Didn’t last long to see the fake behind the mask. They have ruined a good thing in record time. I’m so sad for my friends and colleagues.
133 people were on a zoom call. There was a script read, did not look into the camera. It lasted a minute and a half and then they ended the meeting. They put us mute so no one could ask question or cause problems. We have no idea what to do because they did not give us a next step. WE HAVE NO INFORMATION. We have to wait for an email tomorrow to see what our resources were. This companies practices were already becoming sketchy, it will be illegal it 5 years. This was unprofessional and the higher ups should be ashamed of themselves. Always learning, my a–.
How does a company give one notice without giving any details of the separation? “We will tell you tomorrow” was very unprofessional and inconsiderate.
What company lays off online learning employees in this environment, when schools are trying to move quickly to pivot online???
Typical Pearson weirdness. For those of you who were let go - empathy! You're better off, long-term.
Online learning services was affected. One entire department (Qualify and Transfer) was let go (about 30 people), as well as 70-100 enrollment advisors from Arizona State University. I believe they all received a 30-day notice.
I’ve been told that today’s layoffs were segmented to one area (online learning services) and the first round today will be more than 100 people. The wave will then carry throughout more of those teams and them expand across Pearson for at least the next 2-3 months. This seems to be the opposite of what our CEO and leaders told us. Why do the do this?
Any news on total number of people let go?
I was one, they were not very nice and insensitive. Someone tried to ask a question and JS said she wouldn’t take questions and that HR had to. The HR said they would t answer questions. The last 90 have been bad under the new leadership, this may be a good thing that we something when there’s something left.
It’s never a good time to be laid off, but to do it while the economy is on lockdown is so sad.
