Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

"They are not aware"

Corinna Cole, the wife of a GE worker of five years at the Lynn plant and mother of an 8-year-old daughter, said after years of relying on GE health coverage, she was shocked to find out days after she went to the doctor for an X-ray and tests that those medical expenses wouldn’t be covered.
“GE taking health care away from workers’ families, just after announcing they are cutting jobs at the plant, is adding insult to injury,” said Cole. “Ripping away health coverage from our family in the middle of a pandemic should be unthinkable. We submitted our marriage certificate to prove my eligibility, but that wasn’t good enough for the company. We’re asking GE to do the right thing and fix this by restoring our health care and the health care of all the other workers’ families who have been impacted.”
In response to this, a GE Aviation spokesperson said that like many other large employers, GE conducted an independent audit to ensure that those who participate in the health plans are eligible to do so, but “no employees lost their coverage as a result of this audit.”
“We sent multiple communications to employees and union leadership, hosted meetings and conducted individual outreach over the course of a year to help employees verify dependents, with 97 percent approved for our program,” a GE Aviation spokesperson said. “We are not aware of anyone who submitted all required paperwork by the deadline whose dependents have been denied coverage.”

@5mtb+1frSGLz1- No your missing the factual point here. These folks that are getting folks dropped or themselves dropped, has NOTHING to do with saving money. The policy has been the same on almost every worker, salary and hourly. Your ex wife can not be on your policy. Your girlfiriends kids who dont live with you cant be on your policy. These are the type of things that have been stolen from the company and thats why we all, the rest of us had to deal with this BS. Once again, the majority paying for the wrong doing of the few! They shouldnt just be dropped, that should be fired and forced to pay back!

@2ytp+1frSGLz1 how low are you comfortable with just to keep your job and what's yours? @1cao+1frSGLz1 so GE is going to drop this person's healthcare and not everyone else's because that's the way to save a bunch of money? The 3% that weren't approved are the ones that cost too much! The victim is creating themselves!

No employee who did as requested last year, has had coverage dropped! If you truthfully submitted the requested information and then lost coverage, then you where not supposed to have it to begin with. Why is it so hard for people to understand? In the big boy and big girl world, no one is gonna take your hand and walk you through every aspect of adult life, that goes for things called JOBS! The four letter word that too many union workers dont know the definition too.

“We are not aware of anyone who submitted all required paperwork by the deadline whose dependents have been denied coverage.”

It's pretty obvious that just submitting a marriage certificate isn't all that was required to be submitted.

"We submitted our marriage certificate to prove my eligibility, but that wasn’t good enough for the company."

Follow the directions and follow them correctly. It's not that hard. Being married to this woman is probably he-l and it's probably her husband that screwed it up. He's probably too scared to admit it to his wife. So she is blaming GE and then turns around to scream at the local media that she's a victim. With that said, I do miss the days when the healthcare insurance pretty much consisted of a medical bill paying department where you just handed your bill over and GE paid it. Those were the good old days!
