Thread regarding GlobalFoundries layoffs

Offers outside GF - What percent increase are folks getting?

I'm curious for those who have left GF or will leave GF what percentage increases are you getting (assuming similar cost of living both places)? I will be leaving in early April, I'll be working in the same location I'm at, no relocation, I'm getting 20% increase in base salary, 100% increase in RSUs, similar bonus. Net I believe overall I will be making about 25% more each year. If you list some deltas try to either be same location/cost of living or compare offers taking cost of living into account? GF continues to say their salary bands are competitive with industry, my feeling has always been they are 20-30% lower, my one data point is 25% low. This is one major reason why GF has such a high attrition rate (15-20% each year) and other companies have much lower attrition rates.

My overall compensation increased about 10% but I’m working less hours per month. 8hr shift now compared to the 12.5hr. So far, my new coworkers seem pretty happy. Management is more engaged and part of the team than GF management ever was. Also, training, certification and employee development are better established than the sh!! show at GF

Your "hobbies" ie spending your entire day creating threads on here while unemployed? Your buddy got at 50% increase? What's he, a streetwalker? You are so full of sh-t.

Same! I m truly ashamed of how long I waited for the promised potential at Globalfoundries to manifest. I lost years of my career.

@ bbvv+1kVBKeJ2 same here.
M-F 7am-3:30pm. Much less stress and a better work environment overall. Sometimes I wish I had left on my own years ago, but the 3 months full pay plus 5 months severance was a nice parting gift. It was easy to become complacent at GF. It’s nice working with people who aren’t completely scared and miserable .

I only got a 12% raise on the base salary but there is a substantial RSU package so overall hike is 35%. Also it's a 9 to 5 job now so I can actually breathe, cook good food every day and have time for hobbies. I regret not leaving earlier.
My buddy got a 50% hike but he went to a busier place. We both are pretty early in our careers

20k sign on bonus - 33% more in salary/compensation. Benefits - health, 401k matching etc all significantly superior not slightly - significantly. Work environment also much better. Globalfoundries is a sweatshop.

It’s no real surprise, to be honest. SLT is treating US operations as their own little ATM. Plenty of money/investment/strategy being pumped into Bangalore and Singapore but US fabs are being sold and layoffs for US workers. Read the writing on the wall people.

Samsung reached out to me and when they asked what my expected salary was, I said 25% more than Im making now - to account for my shift differential, my OT, and increases to the cost of living near Austin.

I didnt hear back from them for five weeks. Figured I'd overshot it. Started remodeling a room in my house. And now they want to set up a panel interview and will get back to me with details. If they're actually willing to give that 25% increase, I might just have to take it. Remodeling/project be damned

I accepted an offer shortly after the layoff. I received a $7500 sign-on bonus and 10% salary increase from what I made at at global. To be fair, I changed industry from GlobalFoundries maintenance tech to field service for medical equipment. interesting thing is, I wasn’t asked what my minimum salary requirement was or what I had made at Global.

Yikes... indeed, there is no escape from the stench of hostile, illiterate, imbecile GF HR and senior boot licking management. not even on layoff.com

p.s. Sentences are always started with capital letters. so it's "Yikes", not "yikes" you shining example of a boot licking illiterate reject GF employee!

Are you a mor-n? Do you own a dictionary? Have spell check perhaps? Even know how to read? So you use the term "quit the child" as you wrote it? And we're supposed to take your posts seriously? I'd call you a dunce, but that is too mild. Try sesame street, then reapply.

Isn’t a high school diploma mandatory for a position at GF HR or management team?!

On monetary side:
I got 20% pay raise , plus sign on bonus of 35k with annual bonus target of 25%. All better than what I was Getting at GF. Also HSA fully paid by my new employer. I only contribute towards saving account with employer match.

On mental health side:
I dont have to report to an add licking imbecile who is technically illiterate and knows nothing about leadership, nor do I have to put up with colleagues like this psycho mo--n on this thread insulting everyone while upvoting / downvoting comments multiple times.

@1fdy you seem full of hate and ignorance, maybe GF offers a pyscho package/benefit for you to tell someone about what is wrong inside you. I'm thinking a nice 12 x 12 room with padded walls and three meals a day is where you belong. Now go back down in mom's basement and stfu and let others reply to the original question, what offers are folks getting outside GF. Let's see what the data says and learn something. Maybe the 20% yearly who leave GF on their own are doing it for a reduced salary, makes perfect sense!!

So the guy who was kicked to the curb and walked, is telling the guy who is still employed by GF that he's still there because "he has no skills and is stupid"? That's a brilliant take on things, really makes sense. Your concern is touching. I hope your new gig at Stewart's works out for you.

So you're claiming that you were a manager, who quit a year ago, but for some reason you're still posting on the GF layoff page? Yeah, you are posts a dozen times a day guy, aren't you? If not, I apologize, but you're still a complete los-r who desperately needs a life.

I can confirm too. My wife came to GF 4-5 years after me and basically exactly the same numbers you said. She came in making only 3k less than me and lower title.

Other thing we noticed were new hires are interviewed for a certain position (smts or MTS) and get job only to be told the position actually for a level beneath what was applied too. We know of more than half dozen fiends/colleagues who experienced same. It must be a GF hiring hr tactic

@1gt

These are factual numbers being a former manager at GF who left in 2Q 2022 after getting bonus in 3/2022, development organization. Existing Phd with 3-5 years' experience making $110K-$120K per year. New Phds coming in making $120K per year. This is a fact; 100% true I had both cases. New hires make more in many cases than employees with 3-5 years' experience. This is because the 2-3% raises GF are giving they aren't keeping up with the outside raises in industry.

Want to get really depressed? Ask the newer hires their salary. You will be surprised how close they are to you. Make taking about salaries normal!

Laid off in Dec. Reemployed this month. My cash compensation increased about 5% overall with a few caveats. I’m now working 8hrs less a month (no more compressed work week) and my health insurance premiums decreased by $125 a month. I stayed local in the capital region. My stress level and work load responsibility decreased by ten fold.

When I consider that I’m banking nearly all of the severance payout, 2023 will be a good year financially. Best of luck friends

Are you a level 1? Because those are the only folks not paid "fair". That would make the most sense based on your posts. Otherwise, you can take your "data" and sit and spin. Keep reaching for those stars though.

@pqg you should think before you type!! Let's wait and see the data, if you think GF pays fair compared to competition then stick your head back in the sand ..... However, let's wait and see what the data says when people reply!!
