When Will We Find Out About Bonuses?

Don't we normally hear around the 3rd week of February?

Whatever you think is reasonable or normal for the industry Oxy will do the exact opposite of that.

Is it normal at Oxy to get your bonus before having your performance rating/review discussion?

Coming from LAPC, performance review discussions were held before comp planning was started. Discussions were usually in late Jan or early Feb, then comp planning was done in late Feb /early March and was communicated in mid March with bonuses paid in late March.

It seems backwards to get your bonus (which should be based on you’d performance) before any communication and discussion of your performance rating.

To an earlier poster that said bonuses were new and a function of $100 oil - might be true in Oxy world but many independents including APC and KMG were paying bonuses in the late 90’s (granted they weren’t anything close to what they are today).

Totally agree with your comments. But it’s not too late for you. I’m a baby boomer just trying to hang on. But you have years ahead of you still. Get out of this business as soon as possible. Negotiate your exit if possible... severance hopefully. You will be better off sooner than later.

Us young millennials really did mess up by going into this horrible industry. I didn’t get a raise I was told I earned last year. Probably won’t get a raise or bonus this year. Can’t wait to leave this industry/company as soon as I finish my mba. We don’t get paid a lot if our salary stays flat compared to other industries that may start at a lower pay but the increases are way higher and more often. And with the job instability if companies like oxy don’t pay up they won’t have anything to offer my generation. Tech already pays better and offers stock to more than just managers (not that oxy stock is worth much). Plus oxy is full of nepotism so they deserve to be performing so poorly. The compliance department needs to take a serious look at who the managers are promoting. When it’s former employees kids the nepotism couldn’t be more obvious.

Your bonus this year is a one year membership to the jelly of the month club. It’s the gift that keeps on giving all year long!

I seem to remover SC gave zero bonus when the company was doing poorly. Why don’t they do that now and bump up the LTI instead. People need to realize that bonuses are just a recent element of compensation brought about by 100 dollar per barrel oil prices. Some are too young to remember when you got your 1% raise and that was it. You needed a promotion to improve your compensation.
Inflation is only about 1% now so why does everyone feel so entitled.

Yes we normally hear on 3rd week of Feb and it’s still late Jan, so calm down

Probably will not be decided until the board meeting, don't know if that took place already

I don't think we will getting one, but I hope I am wrong. With the industry like it is and the bullseye on our back I am not too sure we will have much of an industry in 10-15 years, so those nice bonuses may be a thing of the past for a long-time to come. It was nice while it lasted.
