600 folks from reality labs being shown the door on Wednesday. Q can't even do layoffs as efficiently.

This company only seems to actively invest in duds. It shows the utter lack of a clear vision at the higher ranks
there is not enough demand for VR headsets to move the revenue needle for Qualcomm.
But I will agree that it might not be enough sale to fund development of a whole new chip at Meta. You are only 90% wrong
You should compare Apple to Apple. Rubik’s cube is 10$ toy.
PlayStation will be better example. There were 40 million PlayStation 5s sold since it came out. Tell me again, there is no demand for mega VRs. Not everyone has 500$ lying around to spend on a toy.
VR's use case:

20 Million is nothing Rubik's Cube sold 450 Million units. And it was more entertaining.
Sorry to say but you are d-mb: https://www.roadtovr.com/quest-sales-20-million-retention-struggles/amp/
@1wgx+1oUpRDPK it means there may not be much reason for have a massive VR division around as there is no demand for it.
@1tvn+1oUpRDPK I read your comment as "it felt so good"
@1bqr to add to your post: all the people in Q getting pink slips in the future can proactively look for alternate jobs as backup today (and in the last 2 months) . Everyone affected in Meta today wishes they could have started applying elsewhere ahead of time.
All the people getting pink slips from Q in the future would are at least getting a paycheck today! Everyone at Meta wishes they still had a job.
@1irs , you're right. I wore a pair of VR goggles, then got scr3wed by Q. Felt so real.
Hopefully this meta news means a few more Q jobs are saved as they have to continue to rely on Q chips.
Meta should buy Apple’s VR division. Meta’s own VR goggles and VR world app are a pile of …. disappointments
Adult entertainment has always been first to adapt cutting edge tech. Even in this space, VR adoption is probably going to be limited or die down after the initial hype.... remember 3D TV ?
AR/VR is an odd-space.
We’ve become overly dependent on our handsets for our daily lives.
I figure $1000 as the average price. We just can’t come to terms with how an expensive headset augments our day-to-day lives.
Aside from a fun toy, I’m not sure why I’d drop more on a headset
To be fair, I don’t know why I want one. I’m struggling to find MY use case. I’m open to all comments.

Broadcomm doesn’t make an announcement. They just start letting people go in small increments to avoid WARN notices.
Tomorrow will be a good day for Q stock!
@1ifx+1oUpRDPK sp do I. I'm on h1b so I need all the extra time I can get (Thanks to Q). Applied to 50+ positions the month. Have just 2 interviews lined up in late October that I'll cancel if I'm safe.
Doubt they are laying off 600.
That's the size of the entire group.
Yeah I enjoy being is limbo state sooo much more than the other option.
OP, you dullard. Quit complaining. You haven't worked in a place where every day may be your last (which is pretty much the meta and google layoff style). So, you don't know that stress.
