"This Will Be Temporary" Boeing Employee Quote Spring 2020

Some people do their homework, researching and informing themselves, since economic trends can be seen ahead of time and forecasted. Very different from "predicting the future" as some think you have to do to know what's coming economically.

Others pull opinions out of their A$$es with zero research or information to back it up, and those opinions ALWAYS end up with them on top. So, in other words, some people know how to inform themselves and prepare for future events, while others assume Unicorns and Rainbows forever.

These are the days where ignorance receives its proper reward.

But selling land has worked so well for Boeing in the past @1ibo+17EsRZcc! Selling off bits of the former Renton factory helped to buy the South Carolina land necessary for the 787 line!

Notable in the following articles is how in 2004 observers expected Boeing to shut down the Renton factory after stopping production of the 757 and the incentives South Carolina provided Boeing in exchange for a $1 Billion investment by 2020.

Almost like this has been planned for a while...

Renton site closure imminent?
Boeing’s chief executive has downplayed the likelihood that the company
might move 737 manufacturing from Renton to Everett as part of a broader
corporate-wide restructuring.
“I don’t want to move lines from one place to another just because [space is]
available,” CEO David Calhoun says on 28 October when asked about possibly
relocating the 737 production line.

Analysts have speculated Boeing might move 737 production from Renton
to Everett, where wide body production rate cuts will free significant
manufacturing space.
Speaking during Boeing’s third-quarter earnings call, Calhoun insists Boeing
is “not ruling out big changes”.
That said, chief financial officer Greg Smith says facilities cuts are coming.

“We anticipate a reduction of approximately 30% in our office space needs
compared to our current capacity,” Smith says.
“We are reviewing every piece of real estate.”

Boeing’s Board is all about the Now, as they panic; because selling real-estate
Has worked so well in the past, right?
Under its current management Boeing continues to shrivel from its once

There is no new single-aisle airplane coming from Boeing anytime soon,
despite Boeing propaganda to the contrary.
“I think that’s complete and utter BS” said one senior industry executive
familiar with Boeing. “There’s absolutely nothing there”

Is Boeing’s Chicago headquarters headed for the chopping block?
Executives promise a thorough review of all real estate, meaning its
2001 decision to move to the West Loop could be revisited,
Citing an urgent need for downsizing and improved efficiency, Boeing’s top miscreants said Wednesday they would examine all real estate costs, promising
a review so deep that it raises this question: How committed is the company to
maintaining its headquarters in Chicago?
“We’re reviewing every piece of real estate, every building, every lease,
every warehouse, every site to look at how we can be more efficient,
and we will share our decisions as we make them,” Chief Financial Officer
Greg Smith said on a conference call with stock analysts.

Worldwide, Boeing said it plans to trim its workforce by 30,000 people,
or about 20%, by the end of next year. Smith said the job cuts and continued
Remote Work for many employees should allow Boeing to reduce office space
costs by 30%.
He called it an “enterprise footprint optimization effort utilizing flexible and virtual
workplace planning.”
Another Brilliant Idea, following on the success of the MAX…
