Thread regarding GlobalFoundries layoffs

There has to be some other way if they want the company to survive

Some of my former colleagues who were cut finally got relief, meanwhile here I am exposed to more stress than ever. Laying off as many employees as possible and overloading those who remain - how can that be a good strategy for the company's survival? I think it only accelerates its downfall.

Glint survey is bull sh-t and one way to test is - give lowest possible score. I bet new score will be still higher than previous one so that TC says - we are getting better :)

If I may interject. I was laid off 3 weeks ago as of yesterday. Since then, a lot of the animosity and stress I carried day to day, has dissipated. I can only attribute it to the toxic culture and business management at GF. Most of you have “survived” the layoff, yet you’re in here chewing each other apart. There are a lot of good people at GF who are working in a terrible environment. That kind of situation is what has turned the people/company into what we see today. My best advice is to look for other opportunities. I consider myself lucky to have been let go with a 6 month package and I’m already starting to deprogram and heal from the GF experience.

You want global leadership to change, give them a reason/need to change. Otherwise continue to badge in and be complacent in your misery.

You're right posts a dozen times a day boy, I'm really uneducated. Not quite as low as your entry level 0 status, but a real low level MS type. All that time and money wasted. Since you believe yourself to be so brilliant, why perhaps aren't you in management yet? Or at least shop steward? I guess you make more money trolling the site huh?

You are so rude, uneducated, and clearly suffer from cognitive issues. You must be a member of GloFo Senior leadership team.

Like another post mentioned…. This will be new norm. They hit us with a negative move and over time hope we will settle into it and get used to it so it becomes new norm

This is the second time they’ve padded their pockets since IPO by delaying their mediocre 2% raises and promotions to July. No doubt it will start happening every other year.

Yes, there is some other way for GF to survive. Fire TC. Bring in a competent
CEO to fire the current SLT and replace them with a team of competent, tech and business savvy Senior Leadership Team

The work load will eventually become your new normal. I can’t tell you how many times someone left and we all scrambled to pick up the work. Overloaded. Mgr telling us there are recs out to replace of backfill position - only for them to say there are no good candidates applying. Then eventually it’s just the new normal. Until cycle repeats. And even more gets slaps onto your pile.

If it makes you feel better, those who were laid off, are still being paid full salary until Mid March along with bonuses and Health benefits. Not too mention those folks are on the verge of starting new jobs with better companies.

There is no thought behind it, Tommy boy just wanted to pad his pockets. Enjoy doing the work of all your lost colleagues with no recognition from your own management. Perhaps if everyone complains on the glint survey something will be done eventually.
