Thread regarding Husky Energy Inc. layoffs

Will employees who are let go prior to payout of the bonus be eligible to receive on?

The answer to this question posted on the IMO faq and I quote is:
"Bonuses are always at the discretion of the Board. If it is determined bonuses will be paid for 2020, those that are eligible to receive one and that are let go from the organization will be paid this as part of their severance package".

Now, folks, going by the antecedent of our leadership team, does anybody here really trust their response above that those laid off and qualified for bonuses in 2020 will get their bonuses paid with their severance package?

Personally, I don't trust them that this is what will happen. What do you all think?

Post ID: @1hhq+18lJHDMP: You wrote that "However, in this case, the company failed and most likely because the employees did not perform well."

If we agree and say that the company failed, hence no performance bonuses, why can't we use the same logic for retention bonus. Meaning, the company failed because the employees did not perform well, hence there should be no retention bonus as well. More so, considering that we know with 100% certainty that the company will not collapse if the people being paid retention bonuses are not paid such bonuses and they choose to leave as a result. So, why pay them the retention bonuses when people are being laid off. Is that not a case of one rule for them and another for us?

Ah yes the people at the top always look after themselves first and foremost. That is never in doubt.

Why retention bonuses when it wouldn’t be bad if they all left? Mgmt ran us under.

Why do under performing companies pay bonuses to their employees? If the company was successful the employees deserve bonuses. However, in this case, the company failed and most likely because the employees did not perform well.

Retention bonus is a way of saying "we're gonna milk this sinking ship for every dollar we can"

It is very unfair that some people are getting retention bonus when there will be no performance bonus for the rest of us and we are being laid off.

Are they really telling us that if the people getting retention bonus are not able to work for reasons beyond their control, the company will seize to exist. We all know that this is not true. Nobody is indispensable. So, why are they paying them retention bonus for them to stay. This retention bonus thing is just a way to enrich their own people.
