I have just downloaded their sustainability report. Page 27 has some interesting figures on human capital especially those on staff and staff location and turnover. Also, the way they talk about the Voice Survey from last year like a big success without reporting the actual figures is shocking

@3sg better make the participation rates fall. Although managers and co were bullying people into completing that survey 'to make things better'. Of course! Thankfully no need to deal with that puppet show anymore. Adieu Nielsen
FYI... THE ANONYMOUS surveys you are taking are not anonymous....
How about we just let this ancient model of audience measurement die already and let Nielsen's Gracenote metadata side of the company keep it going until it eventually dies too?
Come on people, stop acting like Nielsen cares about any of you. If Nielsen is your only option for earning an income then by all means ride it out for as long as you can. Most of us though have other opportunities.
@1gy The government can't figure out labor statistics when every employer must report every paycheck.
The government will make the taxpayers pay billions of dollars per year to provide audience measurement.
The taxpayer doesn't want more ads.
Keep government out of it. The corporations will find a way.
@e1 To this point, I had a convo with one of the senior guys awhile back and he said that there was no point in restarting the analytics/music business now.
Basically, to make it rational, audience measurement should be a non-profit effort backed by the govt.
So in essence, nationalize audience measurement to:
- Make an attempt to preserve some level of fairness and
- Get the data out to the public for analysis. Until this happens you won't know what other private small businesses are necessary to make adjustments to the industry.
I'm not sure the audience is listening! Hehe.
In any case it'll take awhile but I'm pretty sure this is the way things are headed.
"The Voice" survey was ruled by fear. Since none of us really know how the company is run, you really had to say good things or be in fear of being singled out. This was discussed in our meetings on phone as I recall. At the time, I really wanted to stay out of it so didn't say much.
If I was an investor I'd really be wondering how Nielsen can survive in any effective way. This is my opinion only.
People get so worked up, the reality is the business model is old and going away. They are basically trying to milk every last dollar out of this thing.
You shouldn't be shocked. Regardless of the results of the employee surveys....they DO NOT CARE about the employees!
They will continue to fire all remaining US employees, especially those there 20+ years and earning higher salaries. They will send those jobs to India or anywhere where they can pay someone 10% of the salary earned by the US employee.
They will take that savings to help pay out MILLIONS to the CEO and board. That is the only thing they care about.
