So in Rio Rancho we learned that the ROC is going to be run by Malaysia, and we get to train them! The rumor is Malaysia will take over the rock for D1 Oregon and Arizona. All ROC personnel should start looking for new jobs

Az ROC is alive and kicking. Smaller, but definitely not going anywhere any time soon. There are no movies, no personal cell phone usage, small snacks allowed only, no parties, and very little joy other than the people. Anyone who says otherwise hasn't spent any real time in the ROC in over a decade.
Stop spreading baseless rumors and lies, ya'll
ROC in Malaysia will only be supporting NM.
People seem to have no idea what ROC does according to these posts. Releasing lots is like 1% of the job.
@1koa is right about one thing, tech managers are rarely in the fab. If they were, they could curb the practice of techs taking 6-8 hours of break per day. Visiting the fabs during passdowns & ERT calls isn't near enough. If the managers started observing their fab areas from around 9:30am/pm - 3:30pm/am, they'd be amazed at how quick & long it turns to a ghost town. Imagine how much could get done if the allowed break times were enforced. Technician break abuse is an Intel culture problem that I've seen in Oregon, NM., & Arizona.
rumors
Go in the fab and see these young people with their feet up watching YouTube on their phones. Especially now that they don't have to do bottle changes anymore. In the ROC you have managers watching you all the time. In the fab there's no managers to watch over the slackers.
The ROC in Arizona was disbanded back in May/June. Supposedly it moved to Israel. Most of the ROC techs got moved to IQ but are struggling to cut it.
@1qli - Better quality employees for cheaper while keeping the IP here in the US. Why pay fat Americans a $60K salary + benefits to eat pizza between the occasional drag-n-drop?
What good is a US factory if foreign employees run it from afar?
@1guy, that's very true. But to be fair, so do MT's and Maintenance techs.
ROC-on dudes!
An old maint technician told me that ROC techs would watch movies and eat sandwiches during shifts.
@pdr, ROC is Remote Operation Center. A group of technicians sit at terminals and drag & drop special LOTs of product and test wafers on dedicated tools. But most of the WIP gets picked up dispo'd by the autonomous AMHS. You know how incompetent & lazy MT's are? ROC techs are people who couldn't cut it as an MT. Or people who are too large to fit in a bunny suit. MT's usually have to spend extra time fixing what ROC techs sc--w up. Somebody else said it correctly, "ROC techs are Intel's bottom of the barrel".
Some dude on here starting a union, if interested
ROC are nothing bunch of whiners. This move makes perfect sense.
The new guy is making moves.
Oh thank god! So happy!
what is ROC?
I could only see Malaysia replacing the night shift due to the time difference.
No way !
