Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

Hear me out

T-Mobile pays it's SLT too much. Not just the C-level folks. They make too much at all companies. I mean Director+ make too much. Piling stock options on top of stock options over and over for years doesn't provide them incentive to deliver better results or evolve with the company. It just makes them never want to leave, no matter how bad a fit their leadership style is. The company and the culture it aspires to create have changed but these people remain the same. No other carrier pays a larger total compensation than T-Mobile and it's really not close. Great for senior leaders, but bad for everyone else! This is not an age thing at all. I'm talking about their style and values. We can't be the innovative growth company we aspire to be if we continue to keep dead weight around!

Soon, nobody will be safe except the C-level folks.

I think it's great hearing them talk about all of the necessary changes while they're on salary and financially unaffected by any of it. Meanwhile in my department, all of our overtime and extra pay was cut without any warning, and our base pay was already the lowest in the industry. At least I can sleep well knowing that our Managers and SLT are making out ok.

OP here...the intent of my post was not to bash people in leadership roles. It was to say that there is so much financial incentive for Director+ to stay, they rarely leave. Leaders moving in to different roles is vital for change and innovation to occur. It doesn't mean they aren't effective leaders. Many are. They just may not be what we need to drive success in the future. Also, wow, some of you have awful team cultures if you feel like you can't share your ideas. Just know that not every team is this way. Find another job.

T-Mobile managers long ago lost any authority as managers. All decisions are now made by Sr. Directors and higher. My Director has a tough time figuring out where the bathroom is after some 7 years in their position. But once you're a director, especially if you're of a certain gender/skin color, if you have your lips surgically attached to your Sr. Director/VP's A&&, you can stay on and do nothing forever.

The “managers/leaders” here are anything but. They all peacock around, focusing on buzzwords and motivation but don’t know a damn thing. I’m care where I am at, the managers seem to be in meetings all day doing “strategy sessions”. Guess what the front line never gets, meetings to relay any new “strategies”. It is all a bunch of bullsh-t. Managers aren’t leading anything, they are not promoting change. They are comfortable where they are at. In care, once you get to coach or higher it seems you can just coast. The only reviews are ones they give these a--hats plenty of time to prepare whatever BS presentation they can so they can pass. There are no real reviews being done, or actual work or innovation. Everyone is to damn scared to challenge the status quo, and therefore the leadership at all leaves is just a bunch of id--ts that are not necessary. There are some good leaders, but from my experience for every 1 good 1 here you have at least 8-10 bad to go along with it.

Does anyone else question why tmonile has asserted that every "manager" is a leader? They are simply mamagers and not very good ones either. It is so cringe to see them walk around all high and mighty pretending to be a leader. In reality, they are mindless cult like followers who follow and enforce whatever the corporate masters dictate.
