Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

What a joke- fire then hire back

The ones you fire and hire back is a joke. Such a game you play with your financials so the owners get paid on the backs of the Staples slaves. And you wonder why the ones come back in the first place, it’s not for the great culture.

You are definitely the exception to the rule at 35%. Most come back lower level and work their way back up if they are lucky to where they were when they were fired. But good for you, seriously good for you. It’s tough out there when laid off at a higher level and higher comp and of a certain age that Staples loves to hit when they layoff. Expect more layoffs in the New Year. The wheels are officially in motion.

There are three that I know personally that had other jobs but it was quite obvious they couldn’t function where there was actual accountability. Good thing Staples took them back so they can ride it our bringing no value whatsoever except kissing up to their bosses that hires them back. Pathetic but that’s all that’s left here- people who can’t do better somewhere else and others too scared to look for somewhere that actually appreciates talent.

Some of the worst managers and laziest have been hired back. Staples is clearly desperate for any real talent.

@1ga yeah I was one of them. Worked myself to the bone for this company for 17 years. Anyway that is that. I was laid off a year ago. It is really rough out here - just a heads up to those in the interim / trenches right now. Hard. Really hard

Staples has some amazing associates - hard working, collaborative, skilled, and dedicated. Probably the key reason they return to Staples is because it is an "easy" short term solution to earning a living. Unfortunately, it is not a good long-term decision - Staples does NOT value their employees as evidenced by the continuous reorganizations, cutbacks, and brutal mass firings via zoom calls.

Losers when they were with the company the first time, let go, and now you hire them back. Still losers.
