Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Zero motivation

I'm still trying to do my job professionally but I've lost all motivation since the acquisition was announced. I admire those who still do their work with great enthusiasm. How do you manage to do that?
I have no hope that I will be able to keep my job at Broadcom, and the market has become disappointing, so every day I am less and less able to concentrate on work.

@OP+1hPReDVn I think I continue to do mine so that if I am let go I can name the stuff on my resume I did accomplish.

Agree with your post, but what else was he supposed to do? He couldn’t legally confirm the deal before the announcement.

The moment I saw that message I knew the deal was done. Seen it multiple times, management for the most part, will only protect themselves.

Congrats on getting out of this mess, I hope to be behind you soon.

I was the same. I think I went from hero to 0 in a matter of days .... What got me was when K*t announced on Slack it was just a rumour yet the very next day the announcement came through. That knocked me personally down as I always thought that HE is one of THE good ones. At that moment I lost all trust that VMware has not just shareholders in mind (that point got proven over and over since, that VMware has nothing BUT shareholders in mind).

As the previous poster said - you are being paid to do a job but I lost all drive so I got back onto the job market and now I am on my last week at VMware.

Onwards and Upwards.

Yep, shake it off, and get your sh-t together. Do you want to appear like a dweeb in your interviews?

You are being paid to do a job. Do it.
That said, assume you are going to be let go and start IMMEDIATELY looking for a new position. The economy is tanking so get another job pronto.
Let others make excuses and mail it in.
Take command of your situation and find another job. You can do it.
