Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Lightning, the EV truck no one wants!

https://www.torquenews.com/1084/ford-pays-its-dealers-22500-move-out-slow-selling-f-150-lightnings-its-unprecedented-time

Not only that but they are shutting production down for over two months.

Is anyone else not shocked that F150 buyers would be the last people to want an EV? 😂

Know your customers!!

@gzl

Sounds like most of your trips are to the dispensary.

I have one of these for my sins, and it's not quite the doom and gloom that's being made out here / on the media. We've taken it on ~250 mile each way trips, and found that the charging network (especially now we've got access to Tesla) isn't actually that bad, and the times the truck needed a charge seemed to line up reasonably to when the kids wanted a rest stop. For around town, it's a fine vehicle, and was able to do 'truck things' quite happily - pulled a boat, picked up lumber from a yard and retrieved a bed full of mulch.
It did take me a couple months to get over the range anxiety, but honestly it's not that bad. I don't do 200+ miles towing my manhood for everyone to see every single day, so I just plug it in when I get home, and it's ready to go when I am. Also, living in SE Michigan with our monopoly energy supplier that likes to proactively cut the power whenever the wind blows unexpectedly, having ~4 days of power available to me which doesn't make a noise is really quite a reassuring place to be. I think we're close to an inflection point, and I'm glad we've got a couple vehicles to service that market.

@1fyg, I have driven these trucks multiple times. Plus, I have given demonstrations with them prior to Ford laying me off. Sorry, but I was not impressed with it at all. Just another boring electric vehicle with no personality whatsoever and all of the other inherent drawbacks of an EV. It’s a total waste of money, especially for the prices that they are charging for them.

If any of you actually drove one, you would change your opinion. The Gen2 version (Project T3) will get your attention many fold with the upcoming new features and services from Model e.

I always thought of it as a giant Barbie truck, but with hundreds of lantern batteries.

Yes, I know it uses the unsafe lithium ion batteries.

Exactly...of course we could all see this coming! It's a ridiculously overpriced Tonka truck. And to think Billy head in the clouds Ford said this was the most important launch of his career. 🤡

A construction worker building roads on a highway with 20 miles between on and off ramps is not Ford's customer. It is just not a practical truck and ridiculously expensive.
We are is so much trouble with this managememt.
