Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Terrible Place to Work

I've never seen Dell at such a low point with the staff moral that what is in now! AND we still have GTM 4.0 coming in Feb when there will be SERIOUSLY more layoffs.

This place is beyond repair and i don't seen any future for Dell being able to recover from this! Dell has 0 strategy, no long term vision and we are slowly falling off the charts!

I have been at Dell for 22 years and it is indeed the absolute place to work. There is no leadership other than a couple of old school bullies that self title themselves as "leadership". Recently Dell encouraged all of its health insurance providers to utilize "fail first" and "step therapy" to deny prescriptions and life saving treatments to its employees and their families. For my family, it meant my wife was cut off from receiving anti-rejection medications necessary for her body to not reject a kidney transplant that she has 8 years ago, This resulted in further hospitalizations and now her transplant is at risk and her long term prognosis being poor. Steptherapy has been banned in 14 states, but Dell and it's pathetic excuse of "leadership" have embraced and encouraged this malpractice with no consideration of the fact that they are ki-ling employees families. Worst place to work, and extremely hazardous to employees health and well being. Dell is pathetic!

Moral seems pretty good to me! Who are these people? Employees? Doubt it…

Totally agree. We still doing virtual FRS like if its 2020. One way BS of KoolAid, instead of getting smart people in the room discussing what works or don't, getting real feedback from the frontline, take those feedback to improve and innovate. Not listening to people, employees or customers are the demise of this company. Which started a few years ago.

Totally agree with the OP here, this place is beyond repair. I am in US enterprise sales and praying to get on the list next round. I have done as litttle as possible over the last 12 months. If you can hide out until the next round, it’s the best advice I can give regarding the future of Dell. I am enjoying my downtime, I didn’t work a Friday the entire summer.

@1fvo+1oJn8K1J : I hope everyone keeps his innocence intact like yours.
Also dont assume "HR" is a blanket category. Just like every field, HR has layers with increasing powers and grades.

HR has no power over who managers hire and fire unless there is evidence that it’s due to some kind or racism or *phobia. They have no influence over whether managers are getting rid of the wrong people unless they are in a protected group. HR has no way of knowing who is qualified and who is not. That’s completely up to management.

HR is necessary because many leaders are playing politics and firing employees for silly reason like speaking in mtgs. Either clean up these unqualified leaders now or get wfr as a whole team. These specific leaders arent making the right decisions as seen by the repercussions of "work more" scenarios.

Whoever suggested giving HR more power will help is completely clueless. All that will do is increase the woke bullsh-t. HR’s primary function is to keep the company from getting sued. Since it’s filled with useless lineal women they fill their time with nonsensical programs. It must be nice not having to actually produce anything useful.

These type of environments are created due to bad decisions and the lower ranks are pushed around to support unplanned events.
I think Dell needs to empower HR to do their job without prejudice and follow the policy rules across all grades in Dell.
Once the clean up happens, Dell can hope to re build its image.

I think the Kevin Rollins era in the early 2000s was worse, but morale is definitely the lowest I've seen in a while

They have a strategy, cut people until they can’t anymore when the economy is bad. Hire too many when the economy improves and then cut people… then hire too many…then cut………
