Thread regarding Frontier Communications Corp. layoffs

AS THE U.S. ECONOMY HEADS TOWARDS RECESSION, FTR CORP. & CWA District 9 continue negotiating a new California Contract.

Almost seems as if FTR is dragging CWA into deeper and deeper water timing the crash of the economy to leverage against job securities. 🤔 💭 🧐 💭

Agree with above post from 6/13/22, which mentions CA union “negotiators” are all call center employees and fighting for their own self serving petty BS, all the while not fighting to keep important items like medical benefits for Retiree’s after age 65. CWA made the agreement with FTR for “bridge to Medicare” and didn’t even consider negotiating that topic after contract was rejected by the members. Now everyone will lose the very comprehensive/affordable benefit
Shameful!

Go to a union meeting and get on the bargaining committee if you think you can do better.

If you think your job would be safe just cause you are in the field you are very naive. It would make much for financial sense for the company to get rid of all the higher paid union techs and bring on cheap contractors to do the same work for much less money. Getting rid of everyone with a high salary, lots of vacation time and pensions is this company's goal in California, whether you are in a call center or in the field. This is a FACT.

I disagree, Frontier happens to be in some really good financial areas across Texas. California suffered during the Pandemic from the state mandate to not shut off internet because of non-payment. The only downtown area Frontier has in California is Long Beach. While in Florida they have Tampa Bay which I believe is a bigger market. I think your stuck on the California from 2000 and haven’t come around to realizing a lot of other places across the US have acquired much more wealth.

Smart business is to lay off CTF techs and make more money

You must be one of those genius executives that doesn’t understand the business. I mean you think you understand “business”. Just not Telecommunications business. Nor the ins and outs of how an data infrastructure works. Why it’s important to retain knowledgeable people that understand the systems, it’s inter workings and the business itself. Likely, you’re one of those that thinks any id--t can do what those techs do. But then that would just be confusing your job for theirs.

California not “Cali” (only tourists call it cali) is the only state that actually makes frontier money in the CTF footprint. If they were thinking of doing smart business they would layoff in Texas and Florida and some of the other boat anchor areas and keep the California people happy.

Is it really just FTR or is it the union asking for more petty bu-----t instead of what the members really care about which is simply better pay and not removing current medical benefits. Also, since the majority of the union “negotiators” are call center people who know their days a numbered. They still aren’t negotiating for techs. Who’s jobs are safe anyway as they are protected by the Cal PUC requirement of a specific number. The call center people have no such protection. They already got work from home. Now they are complaining they want to come back. Among other petty nonsense they throw in at each negotiation. None of which has anything to do with the majority of the members since the majority are outside techs. Thanks union for wasting our time and giving yet more of our already earned benefits away so you can try and save your jobs for another 2 years when you know you’re not needed. Pathetic.
