Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Layoffs due to Auto Mergers

Tesla is coming up with Sub $30K EV in 2025-26. That will put lot of pressure on other auto companies.

Honda, Nissan and Mitsubishi are exploring potential merger.

If GM, Ford and Stellantis merge there will be huge layoffs in US. If they don't merge at least one of them may go bankrupt in 2025-26.

Gas stations are also easy targets for theft.

GM and Ford will merge. General Ford Motors. Carlos Ghosn will be given a full pardon to come back and run the merged company.

Until BEVs are solid state batteries and 10 minute charging times PLUS cost competitive they will not overtake ICE. Stop with the BEV wet dreams.

Also charging stations are easy targets for theft. Need wireless charging.

"Tesla will feel the same way. That's why they set up shop in the super liberal places like Silicon Valley and Austin."

Tesla is in Austin, Texas because of the taxes and regulations in Texas.
I don't expect it to stick around too much in the bay area.
The bay area will be too easy a location for Elon to get sued.

@qbt+1w2quUtt I think Elon is on record saying that his company making a $25k EV would be d-mb. he is going for high end robo taxis. maybe he changed his mind in the last 2 weeks. stranger things have happened.

You must not be aware of all the work that Model E is doing.

We are going to lead the EV revolution in this country. And then we will lead throughout the world. We have the right people and the right machines in all the right places. It's called strategy.

And volume is irrelevant. Margin is what matters. We may sell fewer vehicles as people who don't make as mich money choose to purchase our vehicles through the pre-owned market, but we will make significantly more money per vehicles sold than ever before.

Tesla can and will set standards and Ford will try to chase them and go down as they can't reduce the cost. Ford doesn't have the capability to set standards period.

You might be severely brain damaged if you think Tesla will legitimately release a sub30k vehicle in 2 years. The Cybertruck was a whopping 20-30k more expensive than promised and was released several years later than initially thought. I wouldn’t be surprised if the next gen Roadster finally starts production a literal decade after being announced…

I’m not saying that Ford is on a good direction but let’s be realistic and not try to pretend like Tesla sets industry standards nowadays…

No way Tesla invests in Michigan.

EV companies believe that Michigan is 'old auto'. That's why Rivian left.

Tesla will feel the same way. That's why they set up shop in the super liberal places like Silicon Valley and Austin.

All three of the 'Big 3' will declare bankruptcy. Tesla will be the largest OEM by volume in our lifetimes.

@rtp+1w2quUtt ... this is like every year in the US auto industry since 1973. there's always some sort of disaster current or upcoming. many of them self-caused.

I predict Michigan will be a dead state in the next 10 years. Barely anything is produced here on the component level (mostly coming out of LCC’s). All that exists are assembly plants with highly compensated union workers who the big3 will either move to LCC’s or automate the heck out of (which VOME and PTME do anyways).

Whitmer is a fool: she already got conned by both Ford and GM when it came to those battery plant sweetheart deals. The failure of this state is inevitable. Even when the Japanese built engineering centers here back in the 90s (when the area was still relevant for talent), even they are pulling back on this state. Toyota is centering more of its NA engineering in Plano, Texas. Nissan with their mess probably will close up shop in Farmington Hills. And then you have the big3 which cut every year. Tesla will never make significant investment in Michigan. This Scout and Lucid stuff here is nothing but a flash in the pan meme.

Honda will buy Nissan or at least part of it. Nissan owns a good chunk of Mitsubishi. If you are an LL6 or lower you should have seen then writing on the wall. Planning on staying in the auto Industry because it's all you've ever known? Plan for extended unemployment. These companies (especially the big 3) have no moat, no special sauce and they'll have to take drastic measures. Sorry but if your not prepared now given the market conditions for the past 2 years, maybe you'll never be.

Lot of changes will happen in the Auto Industry beginning 2025 for survival. The next few years will be very stressful for employees.
