Thread regarding Juniper Networks Inc. layoffs

You should have left Juniper long ago

It's been years since Juniper even resembled a good place to work. The day I was laid off three years ago I didn't worry, I celebrated. Everybody should have figured out by now that the future is not bright there and found a way to leave. Why so many opted to stay and suffer is beyond me.

You always have a choice. Always. Some people don’t believe in themselves enough to make the jump, goes back to Stockholm syndrome

There is only so much we can do to warn GOOD people who are essentially in this Stockholm syndrome. I left 2 years ago because like he-l was I getting vaccinated and falling for their plan. It was a force layoff and it worked… but those that either got jabbed or risked it are extremely resentful now. Can’t save em tho.

You’ve come back to tell us this because you are “so happy” and needed us to know? What an objectively strange thing to do.

Uh, half the people on here don’t even work for Juniper.

Lotta people on this thread who have their head in the sand, and don't know what they're talking about.

Completely agree, but I stayed as long as I did because it was easy money… nobody really cares anymore, there is no joined up strategy, the company is silo’ed to the point of actively only pushing one solution they sell without linking multiple technologies even if that was a benefit to the customer..
associated sales are not a thing at Juniper, focus on MIST because it’s easy to sell and that’s what you’re encouraged to focus on, don’t dare try to talk about Networking, Routing, Switching or Datacenter refresh projects, when all they want is for you to close the opportunity you’re working on.

Because it’s a big, fat rich company and I’m paid a ton of money. And don’t have to work THAT hard.

They seem to me to be happy just as they are... no real thought to really taking products like SSR and MIST and integrating them or at least making the teams responsible for those products more responsive to big Juniper. Many I found broke the code especially a lot of the SE's. I have never worked for a major networking company and I ve worked for Cisco to 10 years and Foundry and Dell for another eight, allowed the SE's to sit and do nothing unless they were "tasked". They were expected to get out and develop their own relationships here or at least in the group I was in they are allowed to do nothing unless they receive and they approve of tasking by an AE. No post sales work, only presales. Too many folks that have been here for 12 or more years and just milking the same accounts, while working hard to not let go of anything to those that might actually grow the accounts. I liked the team concept except there was no push to make sure everybody was producing, as long as the team made its overall number management was happy, went home at four and had their drinks. Arista just got named number one for networking the stock is through the roof and they will eat Junipers lunch over the coming few years.

Many people opt to stay since they do not have a choice. You need a job to pay bills, and not everyone can get a job outside of Juniper. Assuming you are a SWE, the Leetcode style interviews might not be suitable for certain folks, especially if they are a bit older. I found these interviews very hard, but was so determined to get out that I busted my a-s for months (nights, weekends leetcoding). Eventually, after a series of rejections, I got a job outside and couldn't have been happier.
