Thread regarding Sungard Availability Services layoffs

If anyone is looking

I left a while ago and already looking for a new opportunity due to my manager and the inappropriate remarks he makes daily. It's so bad, I'm reporting him to HR when I leave.

My advice to you all; do your due diligence on your next opportunity. Don't just leave because Sungard is garbage. All organizations go through similar instances we did/do. My managers at Sungard are great people who helped me grow professional and personally. They made sure you were OK mentally and physically. Some managers do that, some don't.

To OP, unless you're willing to go thru he-l to prove a case, reporting harrassment before you leave will get you nowhere. HR are shills for management. I agree with your judgement - find a new gig and report it on the way out. If the complaints mount up, eventually said manager will get let go. These folks saying to report it immediately are extremely naive - nothing will come of it immediately but harsh repercussions. If you believe HR is 'on your side' then I got a bridge in the Mohabi that I'll sell you.

I mean if it's causing you mental hardship & it will help your mental well being to confront the sit-e-ation - by all means, report it. But I've had no luck expressing hardships to HR - they're there to hire and fire. I'm giving you the harsh low-down after 20+ years in the corporate world. I've seen incompetent folks stay in a large org for years. If you're a good corp citizen and give an ounce of value, you'd be surprised how long you might stay in a company. There's a huge list of infractions required to fire someone for misconduct. He-l - I've been outright belligerent to people and been retained b/c of my work ethic.

But yeah - i hear ya, the devil you know and all that. I understand the spirit of your post - hang in there buddy. What your going thru is a nightmare - so many posts of ppl who left and say 'things are so much better' - you offer the counterpoint.

Unless you have personal contacts inside a new opportunity willing to speak honestly about the position you're interviewing for, it is unlikely you'd be able to identify a potential issue.

There were some solid SGAS managers (as you would find in any organization), but it seemed SOP to replace them with arrogant know-it-alls who contributed nothing other than increasing the stress/toxicity of the workplace which resulted in the steady loss of good, experienced employees and decreased customer retention.

Do not wait to report him (your current manager) to HR if there is a harassment situation; do it now. Hopefully HR will do its job and chances are good other direct reports may feel the same way about his comments.

@1fie+1dv76AQA I’m saying if you want to leave, leave. There’s nothing wrong with leaving. You need to do your due diligence on your next opportunity before leaving.

I honestly don’t get the point of your message. It’s beyond confusing. Are you implying that you should of never left SGAS because of your current situation with your new manager?

My manager might as well have their picture on the side of a milk carton. No inappropriate remarks...in fact, no remarks at all! Talk about WINS-day!
