Verified confirmation July 2nd will be the final round of this string of layoffs. Heavy hits within MCAPS as Org restructuring is released. Size of layoff to be larger than the first wave all driven by restructuring, not performance.

@37x are you joking or serious? Can’t tell.

PLEASE KNOW THIS!
IT IS AGAINST LABOR LAW for MSFT yo ask that you sign away your right to speak about your package or experience per NLRB.They may still try, as most companies do, but they have no legal standing to go after you. They may only go after you for sharing trade secrets. But discussing your pay/experience/package/etc is YOURS to SHARE<

Guaranteed to be the absolute last round of layoffs. Its all over with now. Its promised to be the last layoff you’ll see at MS for a while.
Has anyone gotten the notification yet?
Wow, it’s not fake news, it’s real! @OP, do you know if this round will be just like the round in May with people being invited to a “work meeting” and then shared the news there? I have heard the gaming division just sent out an email and that was it?
When you guys say major gutting all the news outlets talk about 3% or 6500 layoffs which most tech companies have annual layoffs anyway around this percentage if not more.
If a 228k staff company lays off 6500 total that is a lot but also not much in terms of the global workforce and if most mcaps teams have 8+ specialist sales across 5 different units who are not technical, maybe managers will be let go and teams will be made to become more technical.
@OP ATZ Fasttrack in MCAPS got hit pretty hard in the May layoffs. Any word if they are in the crosshairs on this one too?
@1tt While it’s MCAPS focused this round I haven’t seen anything that confirms it will not hit outside of MCAPS so there is a possibility it hits others teams at a smaller scale.
Thanks original poste! Does that mean if you aren’t in MCAPS, then you don’t have to worry about it? So no engineers will be impacted?
@yq No one is holding you back. Just be very sure and clear as to what your path forward is. If you don't want to talk with your manager, are you comfortable talking with your HR contact? Just know it's a risky move either way. Once they know you want to leave, they (not you)_have all the tools at their disposal to execute a plan: they can fire you on the spot, with no additional pay, they can ask you to resign, they give you two weeks and you are out; they put you on the layoff list maybe. Think it through carefully!
@1ex This is MCAPS focused. They are making significant changes to the roles and alignments and flattening many management levels. Many will experience 10-15% reductions…some complete teams eliminated as Microsoft pushes focus to partners.
@OP question for the original poster: media report that it will focus on sales, is that true? Will more engineers be impacted or just MCAPS? Thanks for your message by the way, it really helps all of us
Not final lol. Not even close.
Original Poster here. Now that there is an “official” leak to all major media outlets almost an entire week later I hope people take this warning serious now. Take care of yourself, build your skills, refresh your resume and most importantly never get complacent working at Microsoft.
Microsoft Leadership has failed all of you that will be affected. They have taken one of the best tech companies on the planet and created a toxic environment nobody should be ok with. No empathy, and no care for the employees who built this company for them even while they failed us and the employees paid the price not them. For those that can, build your leave plan and bring your talent somewhere you are recognized and rewarded. In the end if you are let go, remember it was their failures as leaders not yours.
Probably not yet. It takes time. I expect less layoff in LinkedIn and more in office products but not yet. Later.
Will LinkedIn be affected? CEO of LI now taking over Office, things getting more integrated, slash?
Does anyone know if it’s possible to volunteer for the layoff? I’m in MCAPS in a region that is being dissolved. My manager is a full-on leadership sycophant and propaganda machine, so I’m afraid to ask them for this if it’s not a possibility.
They’ve told me that I’m not going to be impacted by this, but I actually WANT to be. If the layoff is 7/2 then I can get my Q4 commissions and a severance and be done with this nightmare of a GTM org.
Other apart from mcaps also participating but mostly mcaps
@b3 dude u are on an anon site. Anyone can write - read and validate/judge on your own, you are not listening to your subordinates here, leave questioning for them
I heard the same
Confirmed. This one is going to be bad. Pretty much every department and team will lose headcount. Good luck all
@b3 I don’t know if this is a serious question or not, did you want the email address and phone number of the leaker also?
@OP Confirmed x2 through same source that’s called both previous layoffs to the day. This is a major gutting not just in North America but in the EU also. Buckle up and refresh your resumes.
