Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Always have a plan

Even though it is quite clear that there will always be more layoffs here, some still do not have an exit plan. Why? Unfortunately, I have seen many cases of people who believed they were safer than others, only to end up experiencing a rude awakening after Intel got rid of them.

Contingency plan worked made in 2 months what it takes 12 in Intel. People who are ‘iinfluential’ and´instrumental’ with a personal brand and passionate at leadership or passionate about helping companies thrive or educated with all the certificates and scraping by to make mortgage payments. Wonder what are they waiting for? Their group lead to have a heart problem? If you’re a wage slave at 50 you’re probably not that bright nor ‘instrumental’

Make sure your plan has contingencies and multiple options. A viable path out today may be closed tomorrow!

That is so hilarious.

I left a little earlier than you and saw similar red flags - especially regarding the direction from upper management. What a bunch of clueless boneheads.

The PC is going to make a comeback.
LOL!

@1zmk+1nVgjeiV "The US government can't or won't keep inflation down." Jeez, turn off Fox News. The inflation rate has been going down steadily since last year - it's now less than half of what it was (2.97%). The lowest, in fact, of 18 of the G20 nations. A large contributing factor to inflation is the Russian invasion of Ukraine (spiking energy and commodity prices), something over which the US government had no control.

I made a plan and moved on in 2014, shortly after the Circuit headline read, "The PC is going to make a comeback."I. 've been coming here with popcorn to watch the ship slowly sink ever since.

Ruh-roh, sounds like someone didn't have a plan.

I had an exit plan in place for many years, and when the time came I knew exactly who to pi-s off to get my name on "The List."

It worked, and I left Intel with a big ol' bag of money and an even bigger smile on my face.

There is life after Intel and it's a much happier life.

Agree with OP. Always have a plan, whether internal or external. For years I was looking for how things personally seemed for security one to two years out. For at least 2.5 years Assessing if I could 'emergency retire' if needed (read as either pushed out, voluntary option, or needed to for sanity reasons). I always knew there would be transition for anything, but was comfortable we would be ok with any scenario.

A friend did not take voluntary only to be surprised by involuntary. Listen to OP and have a plan.

I got my act together after seeing the carnage of stupidity with ACT in 2016, and vowed that I will have an exit strategy with my pile of F-U money before I turn 50, so I won't be one of those sheeps lead to the sla-ghter when the C-suite psychos decide to do the next culling of the supposed over-the-hill 50+ ICs. Now I'm ready and hoping for my turn at the severance package lotto. ;)

The larger companies have become less dependable (which includes insourcing and outsourcing) from a worker standpoint. Their cultures appear heavily degraded. It is almost as if they have turned into bureaucracies. Things are really messed up.

Let me pose this thought. The US government can't or won't keep inflation down.
Some of these large companies seem connected to the government in some way (Intel, Facebook, ...). I am wondering if the US government has asked them to do some large layoffs in order to help get inflation down.

Buddy the world is brutal if you don't have inheritance or have lottery. I know of a FAANG company recent hire (experienced non-technical), who on the day of her relocation got her offer rescinded. She already had a new lease, booked flights etc. (Of course, that company is the worst of all FAANGs).

As it is true at any company... Just ask yourself whether you'll hire you.
