Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Citi has turned into a toxic workplace

We have to deal with an unhealthy, stressful environment every day. Layoffs are starting to look like the better option at this point.

They keep cutting staff while increasing the workload. There are the select few that get called upon by to take on the bulk of the workload. The issues are at the top as they see staff as a number. They demand excellence with a quick turnaround while the staff is burned out. However, if you want a severance, you can rest assured that they will keep you on payroll as you are working yourself into an early grave.

I've had no work for the past year. I log in and log off. Everyone says let them pay you nothing for doing nothing, but your job is your livelihood and should have purpose.

HR is either oblivious to the fact that are a major contributor to people leaving OR flat out does not care. Either way, in all my travels and in all my employment history, Citi HR is as useless and is as non-concerned about Citi employees as they can possibly be.

Sad. People are desperate and will act out of character out of panic. HR wants this. They want people to leave because of the stress as it’d be less severance payout.

They want people stressed, fear ridden and desperate, it makes it easier to sell to them “you get next to nothing on a raise and a bonus”.

Agreed. And as one new/recent example: I work with a colleague who is stressed-out about losing their job and has thus starting to hog/steal work to make it look like they are doing all the work in the dept. and should be the sole point of contact for anything and everything. I can't speak up without ruffling feathers.

Unfortunately I would imagine this is how things are going to be for many months to come. The reorg officially lasts until at least the end of March.

management is what makes Citi toxic. poor management and those who keep only their own and do things only for themselves.
