Thread regarding Northwestern Mutual layoffs

Why do this?

Our best manager got pushed out for someone who su-ks up but can’t deliver. Now our group is drowning while all the new guy does is take credit. Instead of noticing what’s really happening, leadership just eats it up. Who exactly is this benefiting other than the incompetent a--hole?

@1ef The service desk had sp-t for a budget prior to turning off the phones. It was around $46 million. The Infrastructure and Cloud Services (ICS) budget was over a quarter billion dollars at that same time.

What it was is thar they wanted double the work for the people on the service desk. Which mostley are contractors making sp-t.

@1ef

Yes... let's get real. I worked with her. She was living quite the jet setting lifestyle. Every three days either in NYC, Milwaukee, Arizona or occasionally off to India in her Louboutin heels.

Her expenditures including a lot of WIT and other non-business critical items. She was toxic and detrimental to the company. It was a situation of better late than never to push her unwillingly out the door and off to the pasture. Most competent executives get snatched up... she hasn't been and won't be able to trick another large company to allow her in to destroy it's work environment or culture. You can call yourself a mover and shaker and change agent, that's fine. But if you leave a trail of destruction and low morale after your changes... maybe you (SR) are the problem.

Okay, but let's be real, everyone literally knew SR and her team didn't want to shut the phones down. That was 100% JS breathing down her neck on budget target.

SR.... AVT and all the LV people were such charlatans. Wish the company would broadcast the townhalls when they were pushing this reverse acquisition where a BS start-up came in as the "experts" and literally said that NM would be the next Amazon or Google.

There is a reason SR and AG are still unemployed and not immediately being pursued by competitors. NM has blown billions for a little shinier website. This new leadership is finally getting back to focusing on NM's core competencies... maybe they'll get their house in order and be able to offer their employees a 401k once again like most Fortune 500 companies. Maybe they might be able to offer a more competitive dividend rate as compared to other large mutual insurance companies as we have trailed our competitors by around 1% on average for the past few years.

NM is a prime example of the saying: "We're good because we're old... not old because we're good"

SR was the worst thing that happened to NM aside from JES. She was not an innovator by any sense of the word. SR is the one that turned off the phones at the help desk and left thousands of people without help. She also promoted all of her friends to Sr Dir positions to create even more damage. Good riddance

Look, I worked for SR, and I'll give credit where credit is due. She whipped that team into shape and did a heck of a lot for the folks in this town. The trouble is, people didn't like her because she was a little too forward thinking for NM and pushed for too much change, too fast. She was a liberal and involved in the WIT and ERG nonsense, and I'm not, but that doesn't change the facts of what she accomplished.

LD wasn’t incompetent. The rest? I actually laughed out loud at the suggestion that SR, AG, AA, ST, etc were competent. You’re also ignoring several other people that were let go. You’re judging the frequency of an event by how easily examples come to mind. That’s called an availability heuristic… and it’s reinforced by your confirmation bias and worldview that everyone is racist. Try again :)

It really looks like DG’s got a pattern going with UV, SR, AG, the architect, LD, and now AA leaving.
Makes you wonder what the common thread is with all of 'em, doesn't it? And it's not like they're ALL incompetent, that's for sure.
