Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Big Layoffs Coming in August

Expect big layoffs in August - the books need serious tuning (opex reduction) before the September earnings call. Despite employees putting on brave smiles due to large equity packages (I’m one of them), things aren’t pretty on the backend and shareholders are demanding higher returns.

Yes there are layoffs,, there are always layoffs - BRCM is conglomeration that acquires companies, shaves their cost for profit margin max by cutting workforce and raising prices, rinse and repeat w next company. Not realize that yet? The newer the acquisition, or closer to "line of doom", more likely layoffs. One of the franchises as they call it has a 90% profit margin and been around long time after its own initial staff and cost cuts, so probably only there is no layoffs. This is the formula.

Great the uninformed comments saying no layoffs, look around you man. Layoffs are happening as we speak.

All the hardware inventoooory is pulled through because of tarifffffs fears. All software is a scam. They pulled through the rest of the software portfoooolio to hide the VMwaaaare disaster. The scan is unraveling all at once. When the AI bubbbble bursts the software bubble also bursts in tandem.

@1e5 Sorry, I meant, the employees would have been laid off two months prior to August 15th. In other words, they were already laid off a month ago. We lost 4 in our team.

I think the "big layoffs in August" will just be the WARN period ending, and those people have been laid off 2 months ago. Most remotes will be gone.

If you don't have the noose of usury around your neck you will do fine. You don't need much to live a honest life.

Microsoft for some reason can't use Chinese to run Pentagon cloud in Azure. They will need to hire the people fired from VMware in the US for the same cost. The race to the bottom.

  1. 0 is out. No need to keep all the expensive employees around. Need to hire people who can keep the lights on. There are thousands of people who have been fired from Microsoft, Intel, Facebook, Salesforce who will work for minimum hourly wage.

Of course they'll be layoffs. Brcm been telling the world lately no M&A plans (even though it's an acquisition company), because they still focused on "integrating VMWare" which means guess what - more layoffs for profit margins. Like, duh. Sadly, it will NOT be based on the coffee badge-in's or actual effort or value, it will be decided by managers very subjectively within their must-do #s and "get outta country X" orders. That's the way

Too much debt. All cash gone for buybacks. Long term interest rates spiking. Customers are fleeing. Just give yourself a few months. Then the circus will be over for you. Are you necessary to keep the lights on? Or are you still trying to cure cancer with VCF?

I can confirm. Any idea what would be the affect f badge in - badge out folks? Those who are literally not spending 8h a day in the office are considered remote or semi-remote? How would EMEA be affected?
