Thread regarding IBM layoffs

After his legs were cut off, what did Anakin say to Obi-Wan...?

  • That's how I feel about IBM. The company betrayed me after 20 years of loyal service where they gave me very little raises and I worked more then 1 FTE many years. The company saw me as a dispensable number and did not bother to really evaluate who they decided to put on the list. Many knowledge from many old-timers employees will be taken away from the company and many processes will be done incorrectly and thus, providing false and erroneous results that upper management would not be able to know. Make decisions using bad results, good luck with that!

Thanks a lot.

@1dzk+15ad55Tc It's this kind of acceptance that's allowed the current system to perpetuate. Saying to yourself, "That's just the way things work!", does not solve any problems.

I know that this is a horrible situation to be in. It's important to recognize and accept that a business does not owe you anything other than the compensation package that you agreed to deliver your services for. You are your own business. You are equally free to terminate your employment, so it's going overboard to say you were betrayed. Best of luck. It will get better!

The lesson is never be loyal to a company that hates its employees.

You are a number and nothing else at IBM (along with many others). They do not care about you. It is as simple as that. It is a roulette wheel and your number is going to eventually come up.
