Thread regarding Allscripts layoffs

No layoffs in June, any predictions for July?

Hope July passes as ‘smooth’ as June and there are no more layoffs. Any insights would be appreciated. Hope to keep my job for some more time during this pandemic.

RIF - acronym for reduction in force (workforce). People often say they were RIF’d when they are terminated due to a reduction in the workforce at their workplace.

Regarding original compensation and no layoffs for while...Not holding my breath. I wish I could have more confidence but I don't. Been here + 25 years and seen it happen way too many times.

PB staring solid is definitely a reason to fear. Had he and other upper management had brains, we wouldn’t have been in this situation. Wait for Q2 results and his solid sh– would turn into brain farts

PB sent email stating solid and if wekeep this way we get go back to our original compensation...

Hopefully no layoffs for while

Reminds me of the movie Open Water, based on the true story of two scuba divers accidentally stranded in shark infested waters after their tour boat has left.

The directives from the management consultants were pretty clear. Reduce head count. Which was entirely expected. Bottom line, Allscripts is a rudderless ship with a complete lack of thoughtful and intelligent direction and management. And their solution is to fire the people rowing rather than the people steering.

Performance, good or bad, has nothing to do with it. Getting rid of the higher paid workers and the reduction of headcount is the only thing they care about.

Managers are probably "making a list, and checking it twice" - if they don't have one already. The list being those people who are considered not essential and/or poor performers who could be let go in the next RIF.

are employees in the IST safe from RIF?

No one is safe. It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been employed, what you’ve done, how many hours you work, what business unit, what location, etc. When your number is up, it’s up at this company. No one is safe from getting RIF’d. I see they’re starting to bring back furloughed people. Probably at a fraction of my salary, less the 20% I’m still giving back.

@4cmw+15yCjGtX What is ranking?- I assume it's ranking the employees in your team in terms of importance, but how is it done? And do they adhere to your ranking recommendation?

Was asked for ranking last week, I would expect things are in the works but I have no other details to go on.

Our team planned to bring several offshore developers to our office. Now we have to find someone who are already in US. The executive order does impact Allscripts.

There are H1Bs currently working in Allscripts offices in the US. Those H1Bs already here are not affected by the change. The change prevents US employers from hiring additional H1B workers.

This change does not impact any true employees working globally, including those employees in India. They are working in an Allscripts location.

Yes this affects future hires from India which is a step in the right direction. This administration is putting America first. It may not fix everything Big Corporations are doing to save a buck but it’s more than any other Administration has done for its workers and especially African Americans.

The suspension of granting HIB visas doesn't really impact Allscripts because our off-shore 'associates' are employees, not contractors. However, it will certainly impact potential job prospects because so many domestic corporations are still using thousands of them.

I find it laughable that Apple and Google are up in arms about it, particularly since they're multi-nationals and have offices across the world. It's not like they don't have the tech to have teams working remotely. What a scam.

Useless proclamation that does no harm to existing foreign workers who are already here. It’s all hogwash and BS to fool Americans.

Trump has just announced he’s suspending the H1 Visas and this will help save 500,000 American jobs. This will not bode well for Allscripts who depends on hiring cheap labor to replace all the American employees they’re laying off.

Before you post, how much do you know about the H1B and LCA process? I worked to file them for more than 40 employees in my teams and know exactly how screwed that process is. The greedy company and evil lawyers are the primary reasons for the abuse of the program. It is not pointing figures on Indian or any other countries. It is the US companies we need to blame. Do not fool yourself. Look around and tell me which H1B worker having skills unique and cannot find a replacement in US available US worker pool.

US President Donald Trump to suspend H1B visas

https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/world/us/us-president-donald-trump-to-suspend-h1b-visas/articleshow/76488022.cms

It is time to permanently revoke h1b to stop the abuse, not just suspend it. Call your congressman and senators.

When the weak financial statement is released layoffs will be next the company has a job to do and that is make the shareholders happy. Only way Allscripts can do that is lower expenses , which means jobs will go or be replaced by cheap and inefficient Indian workers.
