Wave 2 deadline to move approaching

So, if you are in Wave 2 and just keep reporting to your current location after the move to new designation deadline passes what happens? How long before they come after you? How many months can you stretch the move out?

Presence report shows the proper number of days in office and if you are reporting to the correct office. Your supervisor should know right away. Your supervisor is risking their bonus and salary merit increase if they let it happen.

Stuff happens in life. One's situation can change at any time in a month or in 6 months. So if you thought you would move but something has changed in your or your family's life and now can not move it is not one's fault.

“Don’t say you will move and don’t.

Better to get six months severance, unemployment and six months extended heath care. Why would you give all that up just to grind it out. Rather have the time off and get paid for it.”

Would you give the same advice to someone with only 3-4 years of service and 2 months of severance?
You’re forgetting you’re missing out on stock match and the insurance is COBRA (paid out of pocket)

If you lie, you get stock match, insurance, and full pay for many more months, not to mention the bonus and possible connection awards, etc…plus you can just phone it in the past 6 or so months.

A number of coworkers accepted RTO, originally planned to lie and have now decided to move to Dallas in December after searching for new jobs in IT and having no success.

Most of Wave 2 in my org must be "living their designation" by Jan 1.

Would you come up on a presence report if you swiped in 3 times each week. I believe the manager would have to drill down further to see which building you are swiping into. If that is the case you could go to Dallas for a long weekend, meet with the boss, show him pictures of your new house, and fly home. Probably work a few more weeks in your current location before the boss gets wise to what your doing, as long as the presence report is good. I rarely see my boss and we are in the same building.

“I mean technically, clicking the link to accept the RTO would be a considered a breach of contract and thereby a fireable offense, so I guess the question is, how much of a stomach do you have for FAFO?”

Well duh?
That’s why a lot of us are saying just put your two weeks in, say a better opportunity came a long, and quit.
No big deal.

I personally wouldn’t push it too far past the date, you can leverage PTO, and Caregiver leave but once that is up, you’re on borrowed time.

Just put the 2 weeks in, take PTO, and find something else, don’t get fired.

A few days at most. Already seen it happen. No severance either. Walked out the door.

This has also happened to a couple of members in my department. Why wouldn't it? They months to work through issues related to the move after accepting the offer.

“How would anyone know? All the company says is how long you worked here and how much you made.”

I just wouldn’t risk it, getting fired is never good, it never feels good to have to lie about it, it’s always better to just quit than get fired.
I’d use up that PTO, caregiver, whatever drag it out, keep insisting you’re moving then when it all comes to a head just put the two weeks in.

Action will start the week after your required relocation date. Why would expect more time if you lied about relocating?

I think you’d get away with it for a few months especially if you keep saying you’re just “finishing preparing, struggling to sell, struggling to find a place, etc”
Most managers don’t want this to happen regardless, they will likely let you drag it out til HR gets word.
I’d be careful though, you don’t want to get fired for cause, that will look bad - just drag it out for awhile, maybe take caregiver leave, PTO, etc, then put in your two weeks.
