Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

It's official: Shanghai job cuts.

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/us-chip-giant-qualcomm-cuts-093000133.html

Silver lining:
A Qualcomm employee in Shanghai, who declined to be named due to the sensitivity of the matter, told the Post on Thursday that the lay-offs were already taking place, with some employees receiving compensation offers, but the scale of the job cuts was quite limited.

I’ve been saying on this site all along, China will get hit hard because the head count is too high for the current business. Then remote workers. CE in US will take a big hit because a majority of customer meeting and engineering is happening outside the US. Marketing has hired an outside company to work on our site, so that department will need to cut back significantly to cover that expense.

@1ddi+1oJMKMnJ, let me ask you this. How reliable are the things that are posted to the layoff.com? The point is that for a news outlet to see some post on social media and then put out a bunch of articles about how QC is closing the entire Shanghai operation is irresponsible reporting since people post all sorts of made up or uninformed information online. Only after QC had to respond to the ridiculous news articles were they corrected to say that they weren’t large scale. The truth matters…even if that’s out of style these days.

How does it matter, whether the news is from Social Media or from Qualcomm Website. Final effect is same.

The “reporting” on this is insane. “A random person on social media said there were huge layoffs happening, so we are going to report that to you as if it’s actual news.” Could you imagine if the Wall Street Journal wrote articles about Qualcomm based on the things posted on this site??

I dont call this limited... 2 (out of 4) directors and their teams(wifi mac maybe?) were let go, other teams 20% reduction. last day is oct20 (oct19 for na).

For those affected ones, first u will receive an email from VP, the second day hr will ask u to join an online meeting and inform you how much you will get paid blah blah...

Ofc, you can get a paper box for free.

btw all i said above is completely fake and dont trust me :D
